So onto my projects!! I have to admit I was a little stumped on what to make as there are so many lovely products in this catalogue. I simply couldn’t decide which stamp set to use. I decided to try a sketch challenge and found one at Sweet Sunday Sketch that I liked.

You know how sometimes it’s really hard to cut up Designer Series Paper? Well, I’ve been having a bit of trouble cutting into the Home for Christmas DSP! So I’ve bitten the bullet and done it! Using the colour’s of the DSP, I layered up my card in Real Red, Pool Party and Delightful Dijon.

I used the Cozy Christmas stamp set and inked up the stamp using markers. Doesn’t it look fab!!

I also had to create a matching envelope using the Real Red envelope paper. Did you know that you can get 20 sheets for only $10.50. That’s a lot of cute envelopes!!

I just love the Snowflake as well especially with an Iced Rhinestone on it!!

I also liked the slightly larger Season stamp in the set so I made the same card using a different piece of the Home for Christmas DSP. Oh, and isn’t the Stripes Satin ribbon to die for? I wasn’t a fan to start with but it is very luxurious looking. I can see I’m going to use it a lot.

Stampin’ Up! Product List:

Catalogue Inspiration

Last week’s Caseing the Catty challenge was to share from the Artistic Expression section of the catalogue. Well this section is huge and there is so much inspiration to be had, that I couldn’t limit it to just one post!!

I really like the Watercolor Wash stamp set, so I thought I would case the card on Page 129 of the catalogue.

p129

I have found that if your ink pad is a bit juicy, this large stamp doesn’t stamp as well, so make sure that you push the ink into the pad. I use a bone folder to gently massage the ink in.

For my first card, I used Sahara Sand ink and then Blushing Bride and Rose Red cardstock for the butterflies. I don’t have the DSP stack for these colours yet, so I used the new Color Me Irresistible Specialty DSP for the centre butterfly and sponged it with blushing bride ink. To cut the butterflies, I used the new Precision Plate which will be available in the upcoming Holiday Catalogue. It made it so much easier to cut out the butterflies and get all the little pieces out.

wash thanks

I have to confess that my colour inspiration for my second card came from the word Cheers from the Greetings thinlit as it was stuck in the thinlit from the last time it was used!!

I stamped off the Tip Top Taupe base, so you can image how dark it would have been if I hadn’t done that. Once again, I sponged the centre butterfly with Mint Macaron. Oh, have I mentioned that I love silver glitter paper butterflies!! So sparkly!!

wash cheers

Stampin’ Up! Product List

25 February 2014 – Is it a box or is it a card?

Now that is the question!! I’ve seen lots of Card in a Boxes on Pinterest and Facebook and it was time I jumped on the band wagon!!

I found a great tutorial by Tanya Bell, check out her blog here, and I was on my way. Once you get the cutting and scoring done, it’s up to you how you decorate it.

I love the Sale-a-bration paper, Sweet Sorbet (well all of it except the black print, yucko!!) so it was perfect for this card. I also used the matching SAB stamp set, Petal Parade.

We made this at Stamp club this weekend and the ladies loved it, except for cutting out the petals!! Not my favourite part, either!! Especially when I made up the extras and had to cut out 12 petals!!

1 January 2014 – Can you believe it?

Can you believe that it’s a new year already!!! I can’t!! I hope you had a Merry Christmas and a great new year with friends and family.

I wanted to share a project that I made for a fabulous friend’s birthday.

I had received a Christmas version last year (woops, sorry the year before!!) and wanted to make a non-xmas one for my friend.

I picked up the cane heart for $4 from a Homewares store (which I then saw for $2 in the Boxing Day sales!) Then it was just a matter of deciding on a stamp set and away I went.

My friend loves purple so I used Elegant Eggplant and Perfect Plum. I also used a couple of embossing folders, Lacy Brocade and my first favourite, Perfect Polka Dots and the Oval Accent Bigz die and of course, the Deco Labels Collection framelits. Gee, the Big Shot really got a work out on this project, didn’t it!!

cane heart 3

A bit of hand cutting and then I was ready to assemble it and attach it to the heart with my trusty hot glue gun.

I hope you like it!!
