Catalogue Inspiration

Last week’s Caseing the Catty challenge was to share from the Artistic Expression section of the catalogue. Well this section is huge and there is so much inspiration to be had, that I couldn’t limit it to just one post!!

I really like the Watercolor Wash stamp set, so I thought I would case the card on Page 129 of the catalogue.

p129

I have found that if your ink pad is a bit juicy, this large stamp doesn’t stamp as well, so make sure that you push the ink into the pad. I use a bone folder to gently massage the ink in.

For my first card, I used Sahara Sand ink and then Blushing Bride and Rose Red cardstock for the butterflies. I don’t have the DSP stack for these colours yet, so I used the new Color Me Irresistible Specialty DSP for the centre butterfly and sponged it with blushing bride ink. To cut the butterflies, I used the new Precision Plate which will be available in the upcoming Holiday Catalogue. It made it so much easier to cut out the butterflies and get all the little pieces out.

wash thanks

I have to confess that my colour inspiration for my second card came from the word Cheers from the Greetings thinlit as it was stuck in the thinlit from the last time it was used!!

I stamped off the Tip Top Taupe base, so you can image how dark it would have been if I hadn’t done that. Once again, I sponged the centre butterfly with Mint Macaron. Oh, have I mentioned that I love silver glitter paper butterflies!! So sparkly!!

wash cheers

CTC22 – It’s time for a sketch challenge!!

This week at Caseing the Catty, we are doing a sketch challenge from the Sale-a-bration catalogue.

ctc 22 sketch

It’s from page 17 of the AU/NZ SAB catalogue. I was actually a bit stuck on this one as I didn’t want to do a butterfly, but then I decided why not!! I love these framelits so I took the opportunity to use the largest butterfly. I cut it out, then sponged it with Real Red to get a mottled look. But it needed some shine, so I embossed it 3 times with clear embossing powder to make it blingy!!

I then got out my sewing machine!!! Yes, I have given in and sewn on a card. Just this once, though. It’s too much of a hassle doing that!! Although I do like the look of it. I used the Stacked with Love DSP stack from the Occasions catalogue and covered it with a piece of vellum.

I also embossed a piece of silver foil sheet with the Spring Flowers embossing folder to give a bit of texture to the border. Then a quick stamp of silver ink onto black cardstock using the Choose Happiness set and punched out with the decorative label punch, and there we go.

Here’s a close up of the shiny butterfly.

So make sure you join in with the Challenge at http://www.caseingthecatty.blogspot.com.au

You can directly CASE (Copy and Share Everything) or use a sketch/layout, colour combo, embellishment, just to name a few examples, as a springboard for your own creations. It doesn’t even have to be about scrapbooking, journaling or Project Life. For example, you can use a sketch idea for a card or 3D item.

Guidelines

Guidelines –
• Create a new project for the current challenge.
• Mention CTC Challenges in your blog post and link back here so others can join in on the fun. Please ensure that you link up your blog post, not your whole blog.
• Mostly SU (Stampin’ Up! ®) products (retired or current) to be used in your projects for CTC Challenges.
• Have fun and inspire others!

Butterfly Birthday wishes

Firstly, Happy New Year!!! Can you believe that we are in 2015!!! Where did 2014 go?? I had a quiet New Year’s at home as my husband went out fishing but I got to watch 2 movies of my choice so I had a good night!!

Now when I first saw the Butterfly Basics stamp set and matching thinlits, from the new Occasions catalogue, I loved them! and since I’ve had a play, I think I love them more!! They are so pretty!! I cut out a large butterfly to check out the size and it is big, but I’ve just stuck it to the wall in my craft room and it looks so lovely!!

You know I love a good sketch and I did a recent sketch from Mojo Monday.

Mojo377

So, I’ve used the free Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper from the Sale-a-bration catalogue. I literally used both sides of the one sheet of paper. I just love how it all co-ordinates!!

Here’s a closer look at the butterfly.

I found a tip to use dryer sheets in the layers on the big shot underneath the card stock, and it made such a difference in getting the little pieces out of the butterfly. I will be doing this with all my fiddly dies now!

Happy Stamping!!

Yes, the new 2014 – 2015 Stampin’ Up! catalogue has arrived!!! There are so many exciting new products in this year’s offering!! We have Project Life (happy dance time), Blendabilities pens (woo hoo), new in-colours!!, exciting new stamp sets, ribbons (I’m in love with Lost Lagoon), Big Shot dies, framelits and embossing folders. I’m in heaven!!

I had to work yesterday so I wasn’t able to get my blog updated but I did manage to get an order in!! Now to start stalking the post lady!!

I was able to receive a few new stamp sets at Convention earlier this year and one of my team members and I had an online stamping session where we gave each other a sketch to use with one of our new stamp set. Emma gave me this one from The Deconstructed Sketch (you can check them out here) I have to say I was a bit stumped to start with.

But I got there eventually, and this is what I came up with. And I finally used the gold sequins!!!!

I thought I’d have a play with one of my favourite stamp sets, Just Believe.  I had a look around Splitcoaststampers and found this lovely card which I cased.  I was really trying to not use my Big Shot (cos I was too lazy to get it out!!) but it really needed the butterflies.  I tend to use my Big Shot on every card so maybe I’ll try not to use it on the next one.  (I did say try!!)
