CTC247 – Holiday Punches

I’m in Yamba this weekend with my family, celebrating my parent’s 50th Wedding Anniversary. I haven’t made them a card yet !! (Bad daughter, I know!!) but their anniversary isn’t actually until November, so I’ve got a bit of time up my sleeve!!

This week, we are casing the Holiday Catalogue punch projects.

It’s surprising how many new punches there are in the Holiday catty. There’s the Snowman builder punch, Pine tree punch, Moose punch, Gleaming Ornament punches, Apple builder punch and the Every Season punch pack!!

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I go crazy and start looking at my catalogue from the back! Wild, I know!! And I didn’t get very far as on the second last page (p62), there was a really cute card that I just had to case!!

I was feeling a bit lazy (and I didn’t want to get up and down from my desk as I broke my little toe the day before and my foot was a bit sore), so I used a piece of the gorgeous Wrapped in Plaid DSP as the background. I love how every piece of this dsp has gold on it. I’m a sucker for sparkle, in case you hadn’t noticed. I then punched a pine tree from the paper and gold embossed one of the tree stamps from the Perfectly Plaid stamp set. A stitched circle, some retired gold thread and voila!!

The sentiment is from the Greatest Part of Christmas stamp set (hostess set) and is cut from the Merry Christmas dies.

Now seeing as I was home from work due to my foot, I had time to play so I decided to have a go at re-creating the ornament from a couple of years ago using the punches instead of dies.

You will never guess which DSP I used? Can you? It’s the Monster Bash DSP!! Isn’t the reverse side of this piece elegant!! So I punched out 4 of each shape for each “petal” and made 5 of these. I kept one flat and scored the other 3 in half. I then tombow glued them together. Repeat for both of the Gleaming Ornament punches. I then punched out a couple of circles and hot glued each “petal” onto the circle. I added Seaside Spray Metallic ribbon between each petal, which I attached with hot glue. More hot glue to attach the smaller circle of petals to the bigger circle.

I then punched a 1″ circle from silver glimmer paper and stamped the sentiment from the Toile Christmas stamp set in Silvery Shimmer Ink and die cut it using the Christmas Cardinal dies.

I’m pretty happy with how it turned out!! Let me know what you think!

Next up is my talented friend, Siobhan.

I’d love to see your punch creations over on at our Facebook group.

Happy Stamping

  1. What better way to spend your healing time than at the craft desk! Your card is beautiful – so classic Christmas-y. Your star decoration is just stunning – I hope you make a whole tree of those! I hope that sore little piggie of yours is on the mend, in the meantime put your feet up – under your craft desk, of course! 🙂 Siobhan.

  2. Love both your projects Rebecca. The ornament is really fabulous and the loops of Seaside Spray ribbon really finish it beautifully. Must give this a try!

  3. The card is great, I’ve loved the other versions tonight as well. However, you’ve blown me away with the ornament. It is fantastic, where do you get the patience to make these works of art?

  4. Well I love the card of course using the tree punch, but I love the ornament- looks fabulous, genius to use that DSP.
Thankyou for the figures for creation, I may just have to give this a go!!
