An old favourite

Sometimes, in the excitement of new catalogues and products, I tend to forget about my old favourites. One of my first loves after getting the Big Shot was the Top Note die. If it ever retires, I will be devastated!!

I had a workshop last weekend, and I decided to dig out my Top note die once again. I love to make different styles of cards and I chose to do an easel card using the Top note die.

I also used the Colour coach to help select a colour combo using the 2013-2015 in colours. I went with Coastal Cabana, Strawberry Slush and Crisp Cantaloupe and I added in a little So Saffron as well.

I used a newer stamp set, Flower Patch with the co-ordinating framelits, Flower Fair so we didn’t have to do any messy cutting (not my favourite thing to do!!)

Here’s a view of the Easel.

To create the easel, you need to fold the cardstock in half and score it. Place the cardstock on the die with the fold inside the cutting line of the die. You will need to cut a separate single top note as well. Score the folded piece in the middle of the shape on one side only. Then stick the single top note to the folded half. Then decorate to your heart content!! You will need to place a piece on the bottom half so that the easel has something to sit on.

And I should mention, the girls loved it!!

If you would like to make this at a workshop, I would love to show you!! Please contact me at stampinwithrebecca@yahoo.com.au or 0408 193 792.

30 April 2011

I’ve had a busy couple of weeks since I last posted!!  I’ve been so busy crafting and getting my swaps ready for convention, that I forgot to post on my blog!!  Woops!!!

I don’t want to post photos of my swaps yet (don’t want to spoil the surprise) although they are just about finished.  I’ve already posted 80 down to Melbourne, cos they were too big to take as luggage but I’m working on another 20 to share with my team, Eureka Stampers.  I’ll be finishing them during the Royal Wedding, fun fun!!!

Here is a card that I made recently from a tutorial that I purchased from Julia Leece, a fellow Stampin’ Up! demonstrator.  Here’s a link to her blog.  It’s a stepper card using the top note die for the Big Shot. I did make a slight booboo but I know where I went wrong (I’m just too lazy to take another picture of the good one!!)

27 January 2011

I thought I would start the day by making a card using a new Sale-a-bration stamp set but it was just too hot in my craft room to be inspired so I have given in and put the air conditioning on and relocated to the kitchen!!  So here I am, updating my blog instead of crafting!!!

I made a card earlier in the week, using a technique that I learnt from Paper Crafter’s Library called Ruched Ribbon.  It’s done without using any cotton, just sticky strip.  I love the effect!!!
