Channelling my inner arty

I love joining in with Challenge blogs and this week at TGIF, they have set a technique challenge!! Watercolouring!!!

So, I have decided to find my inner “arty”. Apparently, she wasn’t hiding that far away!! I used the retired colour coach to come up with a nice combo of subtle colours, Soft Sky, Wisteria Wonder and Sahara Sand. I think they look very pretty together.

I then had a look at my stamps. I decided to use the large splat from the Perpetual birthday calendar set. I stamped it in the 3 colours on the watercolour paper and gave it a spritz of water to make the colours blend together. And because I’m impatient, I used my heat tool to make it dry quicker.

I knew I wanted to add a gold embossed sentiment and I couldn’t decide what would go. My fabulous friend, Emma, suggested that I use the flower from You’ve Got This, and I have to agree, that it looks pretty good!! I added some lace, a bow and stamped a small sentiment from Petite Pairs and punched it out with the oval punch.

When I came to photo the card, I realised that it’s hard to get a good picture of embossing. Let me just say in real life, it looks much better!!

I hope you like my card!! Please leave me a comment and let me know.

Happy Stamping

Stampin’ Up! Product List

I’m feeling a little Bohemian!!

I have discovered a new challenge blog which has just started and this is my first time joining in!! It’s TGIF Challenges!!

I always love a good sketch challenge and I really like the one they have for this week.

My idea for the card altered as I was going on due to a stamping mis-hap!! But I’m happy with the end result!!

I have used a few new products which are coming out in the 2015-2016 Catalogue. Firstly, I’ve used the new Bohemian Borders stamp and the co-ordinating Bohemian Designer Washi tape. I actually got my colour combo from the back of the Bohemian DSP. Did you know that all of the co-ordinating colours are listed there!! So I used Blackberry Bliss, Island Indigo, Bermuda Bay and the new Delightful Dijon.

I also did my favourite technique, using the marker technique on the stamp. I love this look!!

Here’s a close up of the detail.

And, of course, no card is complete without a bit of bling, so I added some Bermuda bay sequins. Love!!

I’d love to hear what you think!! And if you would like a copy of the new catalogue, let me know and I’ll send one out to you.

Happy Stamping!!
