A small wonder

I don’t know about you but I enjoy doing easy projects every once in a while. I was feeling like exploring doing a One Sheet Wonder but didn’t really have the time to make 11 or 12 cards.

After spending some time (more than I care to admit!!) on Pinterest, I found a One Sheet Wonder for 6″x6″ dsp here on SMD Paper Arts, which creates just 3 cards.

I decided to use the Wood Textures DSP Stack as it’s already the right size! I then trimmed it according to the template.  I did have to trim a little extra as our Aussie cardstock is a little bit smaller than US.

Unfortunately, I’ve had to use a few of my sympathy cards lately, so I needed to make a few to have handy in my stash.  I’ve used the Heartfelt Sympathy stamp set and embossed the sentiments with gold.  The photos don’t really do the embossing justice.

I added a strip of the new black shimmer ribbon which has a little sparkle to it.  I then used the layering framelits and the stitched shape framelits for the sentiment piece.

Hopefully, I won’t need to use these soon but if I do, I’ll have them ready.

A one sheet wonder template is a great resource when you are short of ideas and you get to showcase our gorgeous designer series paper.

Leave me a comment and tell me which is your favourite dsp from the current catalogue.  I’ll feature the most popular one next week.

CTC133 – Love and Sympathy

It’s so nice having a new catalogue and starting to play with my new goodies.  We are slowly working our way through the new catalogue and it’s lovely to see all the fabulous creations on the CTC Facebook group.  If you would like to check them out, just click here and join up!  And don’t forget to add your creation as well.

This week, we are casing the Love and Sympathy section, pages 86-101 of the 2017-2018 Annual Catalogue.

I decided to case the grey card on page 101 which used the You’ve Got this stamp set, which I do love. I did want to use a different set and colours, cos I wanted to play with new goodies!!

This catalogue has some amazing new background stamps, and I’ve recently bought Sheet Music as I have a few musical friends and this will be perfect for cards for them.  So straight away, I had to turn the card from landscape to portrait as you can’t have music laying on it’s side!!  I did stamp it in black first but it was too harsh, so I used Sahara Sand instead for a softer look.

I used the Oh So Eclectic Stamp set and the matching Eclectic Layers thinlits.  I’m not sure if the thinlits are meant to cut out the more solid flower but I used it anyway!  I used Berry Burst, Powder Pink and Pear Pizzazz for the flowers and leaves.  I almost forgot to mention that I put Clear Stella on the cut out flower for a  bit more sparkle.

One of the products I often forget to use is Vellum!  But every time I use it, I wonder why I don’t use it more often.  I cut out a banner using the triple Banner punch and then stamped the sentiment from the Just Add Text stamp set.

Oh, oh, can you see the new mini sequins!!  They are soooo cute!!  #diedandgonetoheaven #sparklesaremyhappyplace

Now don’t forgot to come and join the group and share your project casing the Love and Sympathy section.

Next up is the lovely Judy.

CTC84 – Love and Sympathy

ctc_header

This week, we are caseing the Love & Sympathy section of the 2016-2017 Annual Catalogue.  There are so many lovely projects and gorgeous new stamp sets in this section.

ctc84---c

I have decided to case the popcorn box on page 51.  This box really makes me want to buy the popcorn box thinlits, although I haven’t yet.

ctc84-a

So the only box die I had was the baker’s box die.  I used the Flourishing Phrases stamp set and coloured it with blender pens on the flowers and leaves and an aqua painter for the background.  It was quick and easy to create!!  I think the longest part was working out the folds at the bottom of the box!!  Oh, and I did put a Wink of Stella on it too, of course!

ctc84-b

I used one of the dies in the set to make the tag, which I stamped with the sentiment from the You’ve Got This stamp set. And, a box isn’t complete without some sequins to finish it off.

I hope you like my box.  I’d love you to leave a comment below.

Next on the hop is the talented Judy May.

Comforting Friends

I don’t know about you but I like to have a variety of cards on hand in my stash to cover most occasions. I found recently that I didn’t have any suitable sympathy cards and decided to make a couple for stamp club recently.

I really like the Corner Garden stamp set so I decided to colour this set with my blender pens and again with the markers for a different look. I also used the Thoughts & Prayers stamp set for the sentiments.

This is the first time that I’ve used the new Thick Whisper White cardstock and it’s lovely!! We also cracked out the new Archival basic black ink pad, which will be available from 1 September, and it does a nice crisp image.

I let the ladies at stamp club choose what they wanted to use, markers or blender pens and ink pads, and creativity reigned!! We also choose the coloured backing on the day to suit the colours that they used.

So here is my card using blender pens and the subtles ink pads.

At stamp club, I went with blender pens and the brights ink pads.

For my last sample, I went with the Regals markers.

In order to get the sentiments straight, I used the stamp-a-ma-jig to help line it all up. Seeing as there is so much work in colouring, you don’t want to mess it up on the last step!!
