18 January 2012 – Spice Cake

No, I’m not cooking a spice cake today, but I am in love with the Spice Cake DSP in the latest mini catalogue!! The pictures really don’t do it justice.

I’m attempting to be more organised this year and actually send out more birthday cards this year.  To this end, I’ve been thinking about a birthday card folder where I can get the cards ready at the start of the month, including addressed, stamped and written in and then just be able to whip the card out a week before and post it off.

I’ve had lots of cardboard used as stiftening for projects so I thought it would make a good base for the folder.  I was going to use a different DSP for each month but I fell in love with Spice Cake so the whole book will be the same paper.  I’m also using the matching stamp set, Spiced Paisley.

Of course, my photo really doesn’t do it justice but you get the idea.  I’ve usedthe Timeless Type Alphabet Junior Sizzlits for the title and the very glittery Silver glimmer paper.  There’s also the new velvet ribbon for the border and flowers.

Here’s close up of each page.  Special birthday’s are indicated by a rhinestone.

13 September 2011 – CASEing the Catalogue!!!

Have you ever copied a card from somewhere else?  I do this all the time as I often lack the inspiration to come up with an idea.  Well, our catalogue is a great place to start!!  After all, it’s an ideas’ book as well!!

I wanted to showcase one of the new Christmas stamps, Beautiful Season, so I used the catalogue (page 22) and here it is!!

This is a lovely set and I can’t wait to make more with it!!

Stamp Set:  Beautiful Season

Ink:  Basic Black

Paper:  Watercolour paper, Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler, Certainly Celery

Accessories:  Blender pens, Stampin’ Pastels, Curly label punch, pearls.

I also CASEd a card from one of the old Stampin’ Up! invitations for a workshop on the weekend.  The hostess, (hi Colleen!!), had requested a card from the invite but I didn’t have the stamp set or the papers, so I improvised!!  I love the Decorative label punch, so I punched it out twice, cut it in half both ways and then used the pieces to make a layer behind the sentiment.

Stamp Sets:  Button Buddies, Bring on the Cake

Ink:  Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi

Paper:  Just Add Cake DSP, Peach Parfait, Whisper White, Wild Wasabi

Accessories – Scallop circle punch, decorative label punch, pinking hearts border punch

24 January 2011 – First Post, finally!!

My goal this year is to post at least once a week.  I know, it’s a bit of a challenge!!

So here is a long one to start the week off.

One of my customers (hi Lynn) is moving and I wanted to give her a little gift to show my appreciation.  I got the Milk carton die for Christmas and I have been dying to use it.  They are the cutest little milk cartons that you have ever seen.  They are a bit smaller than I first thought but what they lack in size, they make up for in cuteness!!!

I found an example of a milk carton made into a bird house and I fell in love!!  I just had to make one.  I used a piece of actetate behind the hole, so that the surprise inside didn’t fall out.

Paper:  Marina Mist, Elegant Soiree DSP, Acetate

Accessories:  Big Shot, Milk Carton Die, bird punch, 1″ circle punch, sticky strip, scalloped edge punch

I also made a card for Lynn, using the Word Play set.  I love the words in this set, espeically the size.  I also used the Colour Coach for the combination – Marina Mist, Crumb Cake and Cajin Craze.

Stamp Set:  Word Play

Paper:  Marina Mist, Crumb Cake, Cajun Craze

Ink:  Cajun Craze

Accessories – Marina Mist Taffeta Ribbon, Brad from Hodgepodge Hardware, Elegant Lines Embossing folder, Big Shot

I’ve got another post plannned for this week, so keep an eye out.  Until then, have a great week!!
