GPD002 – Sketch time

I’m trying to join in each week with the Global Design Project challenges. So far I’m on a roll, two weeks in a row!! Yay, me!! Lol

This week, the challenge is to use the sketch provided by the amazing Teneale Williams.

I started off by looking at my stamps to see if I had an image that would suit the large circle. I thought the flower in the Crazy about You stamp set had some potential so I decided to give it a go. I then flipped through the Pretty Petals DSP stack and selected this lovely Mint Macaron floral to be my background. I then used the My Creak Ink colour selector to give me a colour combo. I started off with Tip Top Taupe and Mint Macaron and I went with adding Pink Pirouette and Gold Glimmer Paper. It actually suggested So Saffron but I figured gold was better!!

I just love the Striped Satin ribbon in the Holiday catalogue and thought it would accent the vanilla in the dsp. I then added a strip of Tip Top Taupe dotted lace ribbon for some more texture. I stamped the flower 4 times and punched out the largest one then hand cut the other three. I then layered them up with some dimensionals for a bit of height.

I then had a brain storming session with my other stamping bestie, Emma at Vintage Graffiti, who suggested that I stamp the “For onto a layered banner. Doesn’t it look great!! Thank you, Emma!!

I cut the “You” out of Gold glimmer paper using the new Precision Plate and it was so easy to get out of the die. Actually it just fell out!!

Here’s a close up of the detail.

I even put a bit of gold metallic thread behind the flower, but it’s a bit hard to see in the photo. It looks lovely in real life.

I hope you have enjoyed my card!! Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

Happy Stamping

Team Day Blending

I’m back home after a great weekend in Melbourne with my amazing stamping team, the Eureka Stampers!!!

team day

I was asked to do a presentation about Blendabilities, which you may have noticed I like just a little bit!!! Now I know I’m not an expert but I love to give them a go. I found a number of techniques to show everyone, and over my next few blog posts, will share with you too.

One of the simplest techniques is colouring DSP, or Designer Series Paper. In the current catalogue, there is the Back to Black DSP or in the Occasions catalogue, the Stacked with Love DSP stack. I find this technique works best with a dark colour paper as then you don’t need to worry about staying within the lines. Once the ink is dry, you can’t see where you went over.

I used the Stacked with Love DSP stack and coloured it using my new favourite colour, Bermuda Bay blendies. It took a little while, but I think it looks cute!! I also used the Hello You thinlits for the word.

I hope you like it!! Please leave me a comment below.

And don’t forget you can earn Blendabilties for free during Sale-a-bration when you place an order for $90 or more. Ask me how at stampinwithrebecca@yahoo.com.au.

Happy Stamping!
