CTC163 – Sale-a-bration

ctc_header

Happy Australia Day!!  Hope you had a lovely day on January 26, celebrating all things Aussie!!  Australia Day is actually my birthday, so we always do something!  This year, we had a nice day pottering around home, and then out to dinner and ice cream with friends.

This week, we are casing the Sale-a-bration catalogue.  You can choose any of the wonderful projects to case.

I decided to case one of the cards on the cover of the catalogue, the Calypso Coral Amazing You card on the right.

I pretty much cased it as is but I changed the colours.  I used the Fresh Florals DSP paper stack and the Powder Pink print.  There’s a lot of subtle details on this card, from the flowers stamped on the background, the silver embossed star burst, the embossed flowers and gentle colouring of the flowers. Then there’s the vellum banner, the twine across the back and the gorgeous amazing you thinlit cut out.  Oh and of course a few rhinestones!!

I’ve been trying to do more simpler cards this year, but I really think my heart lies with the detailed ones!!

Next up on the hop is the lovely Monique.

The Holiday Catalogue is here!!

Holiday-cover

Can you believe that the Holiday Catalogue is here!!  Surely it’s not that time of the year already.

There are so many gorgeous new products that it’s so hard to chose what to play with first!!

My team is having a Holiday Catalogue swap so I decided to try out the Start of Light stamp set and Starlight Thinlit dies, which you can also purchase as a bundle.   I decided to keep the colour theme simple and went with Soft Sky and Whisper White.  The central star is cut out on vellum and attached to a solid Soft Sky star.  I then added clear wink of stella for some bling.

One of my long time favourites is heat embossing, so I embossed the sentiment in silver.  I also added a twirl of silver metallic thread behind the star for extra sparkle.

I hope the girls enjoy my swap!!  Let me know what you think in the comments.

If you would like a copy of the Holiday catalogue, let me know and I’ll be happy to send you one.

It’s time for a change

From Christmas cards, that is!!!!

I have been making lots of Christmassy things for ages and I am slightly over it!! I have a dear friend having a birthday this week, so I wanted to make a special card for her. I have to say I really enjoyed making something else!!

I wanted to use the Corner Garden stamp set and my blendabilities. Honestly, it’s been ages since I used them!!

So a quick search on Pinterest found this lovely card by It’s a Stamp Thing. I love the way she uses only a portion of the stamp.

As my friend loves anything purple, I had to use Blackberry Bliss. This is such a gorgeous deep purple. The photos definitely don’t do it justice. I embossed the crumb cake cardstock with white embossing powder. This looked lovely all on it’s own. I will have to try it with coloured cardstock as well. I then coloured it with Old Olive for the leaves, and then Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Rich Razzleberry and Night of Navy.

l bday

I hope she likes it!!

Happy Stamping

25 April 2013 – Hellooooo, Poppet!!

Helloooo, Poppets!!!! Or rather Hello, Doily!! I love this doily stamp! I have seen so many lovely cards made with it!

I did this card at a new class that I’ve started close to home to show different uses for embossing.

We used the glossy card stock and embossing a doily using the versamark ink and white embossing powder. We then used a sponge dauber and rubbed it over the whole piece of card. A quick wipe off over the white embossing and voila!, awesomeness!!
