CTC65 – Valentine’s Day

ctc_header

Can you believe that we are almost at Valentine’s Day!! It will be Christmas before we know!!

So this week at Casing the Catty, we are sharing Valentine Day projects. I decided to share a project from the Annual Catalogue. Yes, it’s still current!! My project is from page 28 of the Annual Catalogue, and I have turned the gift bag into a card.

ctc65---catty

I just love the Timeless Elegance DSP. It’s another one of those that I find hard to cut into! But I have managed it a few times now. I also love the matching Timeless Love stamp. It’s so lovely and delicate and just perfect for colouring. I lightly coloured the flowers in Blushing Bride and a hint of Pear Pizzazz on the petals. I then used Gold Wink of Stella on the centres of the flowers for just a little bit of sparkle.

I stamped my sentiment on a piece of vellum using the Basic Black Archival ink. Before you attach it to the card, make sure you let it dry on the vellum. If you don’t, it will smudge. Ask me how I know!! (Stamped it four times before it was dry enough to not smudge!!).

To get the black twine, I split a piece of the baker’s twine combo pack from the Occasions catalogue.  Great use of a left over piece!!

So don’t forget that you can join in with our challenge each week.  We are doing a monthly challenge so if you feel inspired to create and join in, please do.  We will choose a winner at the end of the month and post the results on the first post of the new month.

CTC63 – It’s My Party

ctc_header

This week at CASEing the Catty, we are casing the It’s My Party section of the 2016 Occasions Catalogue. This section is all about Birthdays!!

ctc63

I decided to case the card at the bottom of page 4.  I just love this sentiment as it is sooo true!!!

ctc63---p4

I decided not to sponge it but I did create a layer for the embossed piece.  To create the melon mambo twine, I cut a piece of the basic black/melon mambo twine and separated the black and pink pieces.

ctc63---Bec

This card was so easy to make!!  Well, aside from cutting out the cake, I guess!!  The candle was cut using the candle punch from the Party Punch pack.  Easy peasy!! And did you know, you can get the stamp set and punch pack as a bundle!! Great savings!

Don’t forget, it’s not to late to join in with our link up challenge.  Just case a project from the catalogues, post it on your blog and add your link to the bottom of this post.  We will be choosing a winner at the end of the month.

Next on the hop is the lovely Kathryn.  I’m sure you will love her project!!

CTC61 – Welcome Back to CTC in 2016

ctc_header

It seems like only yesterday we were finishing off 2015 and yet here we are almost halfway through January!! Welcome back to another year of CASE-ing the Catty!!

We have a couple of new team members and a new look to the blog!! And of course, two new catalogues to start casing this year!! We are also introducing a monthly challenge where you can join in and share your projects. If you are inspired by our projects, you can share your link with us and the Crew will choose a winner at the end of the month. Just add your link at the bottom of this post.

Our first challenge this year is to showcase your favourite project from the new 2016 Occasions catalogue. There are so many lovely projects that it’s hard to pick just one, but I did manage it!

I love the new Large Numbers framelits and the matching stamp set, Number of Years. The font, the size….. words can’t describe how great they are!! And not only the numbers but the other stamps and framelits are great too, especially the banner and the flowers. This week, I have cased the card on page 10 on the right.

ctc61 page 10

It’s my 15th wedding anniversary in February, so I thought I would get a head start on my card. My background was inspired by the Birthday Bouquet DSP which is soooo pretty. It’s one that I’m really struggling to cut into!! So that I didn’t have to cut it, I made my own using my aqua painter and mint macaroon ink. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. I then stamped the greenery of the flowers twice and added the smaller coloured flowers. Doesn’t it look pretty!! I stamped the numbers out in Blushing Bride and used the framelits to cut them out. So easy!! You can’t really tell in the photos but I’ve added Wink of Stella in clear on the numbers for added bling. I don’t know how I have managed without Stella all this time!

I then added pieces of the 2 new ribbons onto the card. The Watermelon Wonder 1″ Stitched satin ribbon is just lovely and the Pool Party Glitter Ribbon is so sparkly! I can see that I’m going to use lots of these!!

I also had to make a card for a family friend who is turning 75. This time, I did cut the Birthday Bouquet DSP!! I do love the colours that have been used in this paper, I think I will be using it frequently! For this card, I did use the Remembering Your Birthday stamp set so that I had a sentiment small enough to fit into the banner.

I hope you have enjoyed my cards today!! Don’t forget to enter our challenge and add your link here.  And also make sure you use the hashtag #CTC61 to share your projects on Instagram and Facebook.

CTC41 – Is it really time to start thinking about Christmas??

I’m in denial. Surely it’s not time to start thinking about Christmas. Haven’t we just done that!! The year is flying past so quickly!!

This week at CTC, we are case-ing the Christmas section of the catalogue. Whilst I’m not really ready to start thinking Christmas yet, I do like the cards in this section and I especially love the Merry Moments DSP. So much so, that I couldn’t decide which sheet to use for my card, so I made 8 cards!!!

I was inspired by the card on the front page of the section, in the top right corner.

Annual15_p067

Annual15_p067a

So I picked my 4 favourite patterns and, using the colours listed on the back of the packet, got my bases ready. I decided to make 2 of each one so that I could get a head start on my Christmas cards for this year.

To create the lines on the centre piece, I used the Chalk Lines stamp set. I also used the Festival of Trees stamp set for the trees and my sentiment came from Merry Everything stamp set. Except for the first card, I inked the sentiment using a marker as I didn’t want the dots across the top and bottom. I love using this technique!! I also alternated between using the foil sheets and the glimmer paper for a bit of bling. You always need bling at Christmas time!!

These cards were fairly quick to put together and would make a great card to mass produce.

CTC20 – It’s about my favourites!!

Fancy that, this week’s challenge is using my two favourite products!!! Blendies and Framelits!!!

Our challenge this week is to be inspired by a project from the Sale-a-bration catalogue and use Blendabilities and Framelit dies in your project.

So I’ve kinda done this one before (ooops!!) so I had to try and find something new to do. I used this card from page 18 of the AU/NZ SAB catalogue as my base inspiration.

ctc 15 sab

I’ve used the idea of looking through a hole in a fence. Isn’t the From the Herd set cute!! Although I think I might need to practice my animal colouring a bit more!! #itsmeanttobeartistic #lol

CTC14 – Can you believe that it’s the last one?

Can you believe that we are up to the last CTC challenge for the year!!! I can’t!! I’m still in denial that we are actually in November and it’s not long until Christmas!!!!

I’ve been quite busy over the last couple of weeks, preparing for an upcoming market and doing different hours at work, so I haven’t been able to post as much. Once the market is done, I should be back on top of things again.

So for our last challenge of the year, we are doing a Colour Challenge based on the Santa & Co. Designer Washi Tape on page 29 of the AU/NZ catalogue.

It’s an interesting combination of Basic Black, Marina Mist, Old Olive and Real Red. I have to admit that they aren’t really colours that I would normally use together but I’m willing to give it a go.

So here is the inspiration from the catty.

page29

I decided to use the Seasonally Scattered stamp set, which I have admired for some time. I embossed the Merry sentiment with white embossing powder on Real Red cardstock this time but I think it would look nice in Dazzling Diamonds as well. (I didn’t want to wear glitter to work so that’s one for next time!!)

I then used the other 3 colours as the base and 2 mats. And of course, there needs to be some bling, so I did a bow with the silver ribbon and added a few snowflakes and sequins from the Frosted Sequins pack for a bit extra.

ctc14

I hope you like it!!

CTC13 – Back to where it all began!!

Well, it’s finally back to where the addiction first started!! Making cards!!! For the last few weeks, I’ve been making boxes and tags (which has been fun) but now it’s time to get back into cards.

I have to say that I am in denial that we are nearing the end of October and getting closer to Christmas!! But I am making progress on my Christmas cards.

This week at Caseing the Catty Challenges, we are casing Cards from the Holiday Catalogue. I have decided to case a tag and turn it into a card. I’ve recently purchased the Mingle All the Way stamp set and haven’t had a chance to use it yet. So when I saw the tag on page 17 of the AU/NZ catalogue, I knew that was the project for me this week.

So here is the tag from the catty.
page 17

And here is my version.

ctc13

I used some Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details to highlight the berries and add a touch of bling. I love using the Trim the Tree DSP stack as it has lots of different patterns you can use. So versatile!! And of course, I had to use my Blendies!! Love em!!
