You know when you make the best plans and then things happen and your plans go astray? Well that happened last week which is why I’m a bit behind with my weekly posts!! I will doing another post to catch up later this week.
One of the stamps which I love in the Holiday Catalogue, is the Dove of Peace. It’s just lovely!! I love how you can colour the dove differently and create a completely different look.
To help my mojo along this week, I had a look at the Global Design Project for inspiration. I love their challenges but I don’t always get the chance to join in. This week, they have a colour challenge of Real Red, Old Olive and Crumb Cake. I love these traditional colours so I was ready to join in!!

I grabbed out my cardstock and had a play with layers. I already had a piece of Old Olive cut to a good size then added a little border of Real Red. I used a piece of naturals white cardstock (which has retired) to stamp the dove and sentiment on and coloured away with Real Red and Old Olive ink with blender pens. I like using blender pens rather than markers as they give a softer colour.
I didn’t add anything else as I felt the focus was on the dove and the sentiment, which is, of course, the real reason for the season.

I always wanted to do a card with the dove cut out. Anyone would think I like doing fussy cutting!! I still used the same colour theme and just re-arranged my layers. I also stamped the background with the dots and stars from the Holly Jolly Greetings stamp set.
I just love the Banner Triple punch for making banners so easy! A quick punch at each end and voila, a perfect banner!! Seeing as the stamp is called Dove of Peace, I thought the Peace sentiment from the Christmas Greetings thinlits would go nicely with the Dove. Especially if it was gold!! I used the new Fine Tip Glue pen to attach it and then quickly assembled it all together.

I might have to try these out in some non-traditional colours!!
