Belated Father’s Day

Yes, I know Father’s Day was last Sunday, so I’m a bit late in getting my cards up to share.  Better late than never, I say!!

I was inspired by the fishy card from Debra Simonis which I found on Pinterest.

I love shaker cards and I thought her oval fish bowl was just great for Father’s Day.  However.  I didn’t have the Seaside Shore stamp set.  So I improvised and cut out the fish from the By the Shore DSP.

I love the Layering Oval framelits and it was so easy to create the fish bowl. I also used some left over silver sequins and dazzling diamonds glitter (which is still on my desk!) Oh and I forgot to mention, how great are the new foam adhesive strips for making shaker cards!!

I had to make three cards for my dad, father-in-law and Pop.  I didn’t have enough of each piece of DSP to make three the same, so I adapted the design for each one.  I also used the Thoughtful Banners and the Duet punch for the sentiment.  I thought the Very Vanilla thick baker’s twine would make a great nautical looking rope to set the sentiment on.

I hope they all liked their Father’s Day cards and I hope you do too!!

CTC83 – Thanks

ctc_header

Can you believe we are up to the three week of the new catalogue already!!  This year is flying past so quickly.  I’m actually counting down to the end of September when I embark on an adventure!!  I’m travelling with a girlfriend to New York (and also visiting Washington, Lancaster, Philadelphia, Quebec, Ottawa and Niagara Falls.  Oh and we’re doing a cruise as well!!)  Only 101 days until we leave!!

So this week we are showcasing the Thanks section of the catalogue on pages 38-43.

ctc83 thanks

I decided to case the gift bag on page 42.

I’ve changed it up a bit by firstly making it as a card and then changing the colours.  I love the new Floral Boutique DSP so that was my inspiration. I don’t have the new doilies yet so I went with gold ones instead (you can’t go wrong with gold!!).  The Floral Affection embossing folders are so lovely!!   I used the Thoughtful Banners stamp set and the matching Duet Banner punch.  Love it when it all matches perfectly!!

And of course, you need gold satin ribbon and gold sequins to finish it off!!

I hope you like my card!!  Please let me know in the comments at the end.  Next on the hop is the lovely Kathryn.

Stampin’ Up! Product List

Catalogue Launch

I always love to have a catalogue launch at the start of a new annual catalogue.  It’s a great way to get the new catalogue in the hands of my customers and it also gives me an opportunity to spoil them as a thank you for supporting my little business.

This year, I combined my launch with the Biggest Morning Tea event run by the Cancer Council.  I think this is a really worthy case and I love to support them each year.  If you would love to donate to my event, you can click on the image below.

So here’s a couple of pictures of my set up on the day.  I decorated with the Pop of Paradise Specialty DSP which is just gorgeous.  I love the colour combo of Basic Black, Melon Mambo and Gold.

So onto the projects that we made on the day.  Stampin’ Up! gave demonstrators the opportunity to purchase products from the new catalogue prior to launch day and also gave us some suggested projects to make using these products!!  How nice of them!!

My first project was a little gift packet using the Kraft Tag a Bag Gift bags.  Have you noticed these before?  I certainly had not!!  You get 10 in the pack for only $6.25.  Using the Pop of Paradise stamp set, I gold embossed the leaves (why is it always windy on the day you do embossing!!).  Gold embossing on kraft paper looks A-MAZ-ING!!  A couple of strips of the DSP wrapped around the bag, some gold ribbon, a smaller piece of the Gold speciality DSP from the pack and a hand cut flamingo (yes, there were complaints about cutting it out!!) and banner, and voila, a gorgeous gift holder!!

For our second project, I got out the Gift Bag punch board and using a 6″ x 12″ piece of Kraft cardstock, I created the box (Using M as the size and not scoring the side triangles).

To speed things up on the day, I pre-cut the swirls and leaves from the Swirly Scribbles thinlits.  So then we got stamping with the swirls in So Saffron, Pool Party, Flirty Flamingo and Sweet Sugarplum from the Swirly Bird stamp set and glued down the petals using the fine tipped glue pen.  I love making banners with the Triple Banner punch.  I cut the whisper white piece to fit the middle sized marking on the punch and the kraft one for the smallest.  To stamp the sentiment, which is from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set, I started with the one in the middle, lining it up with the centre of the banner.  Then stamped on either side.

I used the Playful Palette washi tape on the end of the banner and added a bow of solid whisper white baker’s twine.  Doesn’t it look cute!!

I had my friend, Sarah Jane of Rustic Bakes by Sarah Jane, do the catering for me and I asked her to make some special biscuits for me so I could package them up for the ladies to take home.  They look great and taste pretty good too!!  She also made gorgeous cupcakes, and a chocolate slice and a passionfruit slice.  Nom, nom!!

I hope you enjoyed my projects, the ladies who came to my launch did!!
