Can you believe that in only 3 weeks, we will be preparing for the best day of the year!! Can’t wait!! (Although I have so much to do between now and then!!)
This week, we are casing a colour combo from either the 2017-2018 Annual Catalogue or the 2017 Holiday Catalogue.
I’m still needing Christmas cards, so I turned to the 2017 Holiday catalogue. I decided to go with a non-traditional combination which I found on page 35.
Isn’t silver and Pool Party amazing!
I don’t usually start with the end in mind (well, except for the fact that it will be a card! lol!) and today was no exception! I decided to use the embossing paste and coloured it with a few drops of Pool Party ink. I also added in a bit of dazzling diamonds glitter. I then remembered that I got some Silver embossing paste in my pre-order of the 2018 Occasions catalogue, so I decided to give it a go as well. As I’m needing a few more cards, I made two of each base.
The silver is a slightly different texture to the regular embossing paste and it took a bit longer to dry.
Whilst I was waiting for the bases to dry, I had a look through my Christmas framelits. I decided to go with the retiring Quilt Builder framelits. I haven’t actually used the framelit which embossing quilting lines so I decided to make that my feature. And it looks amazing on silver foil!! The flower is also from the same set of framelits.
To create the banner at the bottom, I used the dotty thinlit from the Swirly Snowflakes thinlits and added a strip of white cardstock down the middle, which I stamped with the sentiment from the Merry Patterns stamp set.
Here’s all the cards that I made.
Next up is the talented Peta.

When I was choosing my projects for Caseing the Catty this week, I couldn’t decide on just one project! There are so many lovely cards to case in the Year of Cheer section, pages 36-47.
I have recently purchased a few of the colouring stamp sets as Stampin’ Up! is re-introducing Stampin’ Blends markers. Demonstrators have been allowed to purchase these markers early and test them out. I’m still waiting for mine to arrive but I have been wanting to use the Cheery Chirps set so I dug out my aqua painter to colour it.
This is the card I cased, on page 41 of the 2017 Holiday Catalogue.
I’ve done my card very similar to the original. I did a watercolour wash in Pool Party on the background with watercolour paper. I then coloured with the aqua painter using Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler and Crushed Curry.
I stamped the large sentiment from Merry Patterns using the outline stamp first in Memento black ink and then the solid stamp in Old Olive.
I wanted to play with one of the other birds from the set as well. I coloured it in a similar manner but I added Wink of Stella over the top. I also used the Black Vintage trim which is so lovely.
You can still earn the Merry Patterns stamp set for free this month. Just host a workshop or place an order of $450. Contact me to arrange a date!

Did I get your attention with the word Chocolate? I hope so!!
I have another tutorial from Brownyn Eastley to share with you today, the Christmas Chocolate holder. Check it out here.
I’ve used the Merry Patterns stamp set and the cute deer that is a part of it. Did you know that you can earn this stamp set for free this month when you have a workshop and have over $450 in sales.
This tutorial is easy to follow. As always, Bronwyn’s instructions are clear and easy. These instructions allow you to create two holders at once.
I used the Be Merry DSP from the Annual Catalogue as I like the red, green and white colour combo. And that way, I could also use the Quilted Christmas ribbon.
I did have to do a bit of fussy cutting on the deer but I think it makes it pop. I did add an eye to the deer with just a black dot using a marker. I also put Wink of Stella over the deer but it doesn’t show in the photo.
I love the look of the scallop circle on the inside. You can add in a chocolate but I didn’t have any at home that would fit into the slot.
These holders would make great teacher gifts, class gifts or a little extra gift on the table on Christmas day.
