Kitty Slider card

I’m back with another tutorial from Bronwyn Eastley, addINKtive Designs.

This week, I decided to use the This Little Piggy Slider card tutorial, which you can purchase here.

This is such a cute card but I don’t have the Piggy stamp set.  I know it’s cute, but I don’t really need it!  So I had a browse through my stamp sets and I went with the Pretty Kitty stamp set to keep in with the animal theme.  I love all the kitties in this set but I just kept it to two.

To create the grass, I stamped my piece of cardstock in Pear Pizzazz using the Watercolor Wash stamp set to create some texture.  I also punched the ticket tear border punch across the top.  I wanted to put some texture across the back piece so I cut out the laurel from the Lovely Laurel thinlits.  I just trimmed them down to fit the card.

Then the fun part of stamping the kitties and colouring them in.  I coloured the bodies and the pot with my aqua painter but I did the flowers and cheeks with markers just to make the colours stand out a bit more.   Then the extra fun part of fussy cutting was next!!  You know how much I love doing that!!! Yeah, no.

I used the Birthday banner stamp set and the matching Bunch of banner framelits for the sentiment and I added some more flowers from the Lovely Friends stamp set and the matching Lovely Laurel thinlits.

Of course, then the sky needed some clouds, and I knew I had a set with some.  I found the Lift Me Up stamp set had the perfect clouds so a quick stamp in Soft Sky and it’s all done.

The kitties do move across the card although the flower in the middle (which is to hide the join in the flowers) stops them going the whole way across.

This was a fun card to make and Bronwyn’s instructions make it so easy!!  Thanks, Bron!

Up, Up and away!!

I’m so excited to share that I have been chosen to be a part of The AddINKtive Designs team!!   My clever friend, Bronwyn Eastley, creates the most amazing card tutorials (check out her tutorial shop here).  Each month, I’ll be showcasing my projects using her tutorials.

For my first card, I decided to use the One Wild Ride, Z-Fold, Slider card tutorial (Try saying that fast!!).  You can check it out Bronwyn’s card, here.

I don’t have the One Wild Ride stamp set so I had a look through my stamps to see what might work.  I found the Lift Me Up stamp set and the matching Up and Away thinlits and thought that the large thinlit balloon would work perfectly on the slider.

I was so brave and decided to cut that stunning piece of dsp from the Birthday Memories DSP, you know, the one with the animals walking over the hill.  I thought it would look like the hot air balloons were floating in amongst the drifting balloons in the sky!

Using old olive cardstock, I created the slider piece and added in some hills.  I sponged it to get some texture but it still need a little bit of something else.  Just as I went to grab my camera to take the photos, I noticed the Sheltering Tree stamp set and it has a grass stamp!!  Just what it needed.

To cut out the large balloon thinlit, I stuck together the piece of dsp and a piece of thick whisper white cardstock using the returned Multipurpose adhesive sheets.  I wanted to give the balloon a bit of stability so that it would fall over.  I then put a little piece of white cardstock behind the basket so that you can’t see the dimensional behind it.

I then coloured the balloon stamps with markers and cut them out using the thinlits.  I just love not having to fussy cut!  I deliberated for a while about what sentiment to use but ended up going with one from the Birthday banners set.

I have discovered that these cards are hard to photograph!  So here we go!!

I’ll be sharing a tutorial from Bronwyn each week so make sure you follow my blog!

Let me know what you think about this project!

I decided to case the birthday candle shaker card from the Birthday Bright Project Kit on page 13.  This is a lovely kit which I made up for my Pop for Christmas.

I was inspired by one of the entries in last week’s challenge by Kate Gardiner, who used the very cute SAB Carried Away DSP.  (Did you know you can get this paper for free?)

I started with the Night of Navy cardstock for the base and added the scalloped dsp.  I then started on the balloon shaker.  I cut out 2 balloons, one Whisper White and one Watermelon Wonder.  I only wanted the outline of the white one, so I’ve kept the balloon for another project.  I added a piece of window sheet on the back and used the foam adhesive strips around the balloon shape.  I then punched out lots of stars using my star punch and added some Dazzling diamonds to the mix.  I then added another piece of window sheet over the top and then turned it over and shook it all around.  I may have got a bit excited about the glitter!!

Make sure you stamp on the white piece before you make the shaker.  (As me how I know!!) I stamped the clouds from the Lift Me Up stamp set and the you from Crazy about you

Then attach your layers to the base card.  I also cut out the happy from the Hello You thinlits using Peekaboo Peach.

Casing at Global Design Project

I haven’t played along at Global Design Project for ages, but I had to give it a go this week as the challenge is to case my gorgeous friend, Jessica Williams from The Paper Caper.  So this is her project and the challenge is to either case the layout, colours or theme etc.

jess-gdp-case

I decided to case the colours and the layout.  I love Watermelon Wonder and Mint Macaron and I’ll be really sad when they retire at the end of May.

I was inspired to use the Lift Me Up stamp set from the new 2017 Occasions Catalogue and the matching Up & Away thinlits.  Don’t you just love this balloon!! And look, I used washi tape!!  I always forget to use washi tape but I really love it.  You should see my collection.  lol!!
