Memories and More – Color Theory cards

I’ve been trying to make my cards a little more simpler for my card classes and have been playing with the Memories and More card packs and in particular, the Color Theory pack.

This is a great suite of cards and whilst it was created with pocket scrapbooking in mind, it is also fabulous for card marking.

As our Aussie card size is a little smaller than US card size, you do need to trim them a bit.

For my first card, all I added was a double layer of the congrats thinlit from the Sunshine Wishes thinlit in Berry Burst and Crushed Curry.  And a little bit of Wink of Stella for a bit of sparkle.

For my second card, I went with a bit more extra detail.  I decided to use the Orchid Builder framelits and the matching Climbing Orchid stamp set.  Aren’t they just stunning!

These cards are so great for creating a stunning card!

ESAD 2017-2018 Favourites Blog Hop

I’m so excited to be a part of the ESAD blog hop and sharing my favourites from the 2017-2018 Annual Catalogue with you.

I am loving all things flowers in the new catty and two of my favourite sets are the  Floral Statements stamp set and the Climbing Orchid stamp set.

For my first card, I silver embossed the Thanks stamp of the Floral Statements stamp set.  I have to tell you, this looks so pretty all on it’s own!  I then coloured it with the watercolour pencils.  I used Melon Mambo and Rich Razzleberry for the flowers and Old Olive for the greenery.  A little bit of blending with a blender pen, and voila!! it’s all done!  I then layered it up with Silver foil, Rich Razzleberry and an Old Olive base.  I just love the Old Olive Mini Chevron Ribbon, don’t you?

I just received my order of the new embossing paste and had to play with it straight away!  I used a small bit of paste and mixed it with Cherry cobbler and Cajun Craze re-inkers to make a brick wall using the decorative masks.  This stuff is so fun!!  And very addictive!!!

To create my orchids to climb up the wall, my clever friend, Bronwyn Eastley has created a number of orchid images to inspire us.  Click here to see her images.  I decided to use this one for my next card.

To create the stems, I used the stem from the Seasonal Layers thinlits, cut out two and stuck them together with my fine tip glue pen.  Whilst that was drying, I created the flowers using Rich Razzleberry and Daffodil Delight.  I also added some Stella to the DD flowers for a bit of bling.

I then created the sentiment using the Birthday Banners stamp set and the Bunch of Banners framelits.

I’m pretty happy with these two cards!!  Please leave me a comment and let me know if you do too!

Isn’t the year just flying past?  Can you believe we are in June already and have a new catalogue to play with?  There are so many lovely new stamps and goodies in this catalogue.

We have a great challenge this week at Colour Inkspiration, Soft Suede, Chocolate Chip and Marina Mist.  Can I just mention that I’m really excited to be following Tanya this week!  I’ve admired her work for many years and love the fabulous tutorials that she creates.

As always, my first thought is “what can I do with this?”  Seeing as I had my new toys to play with, I went with the Climbing Orchid stamp set and the matching Orchid Builder Framelits.  Oh, these are so fun to play with.  Once I worked out how to create an orchid (harder than you think!!), I was on my way!!

I cut out two branches from the Seasonal Layers thinlits and trimmed one to make a larger branch.  I did attempt to spritz the base layer of Soft Suede but I didn’t want to overdo it and as you can see, it’s very lightly distressed!!  Ah well, some things work and some don’t!!

As you can tell, I started a new Stella and it came out very sparkly.  You can never have too much sparkle!!

I also used one of the sentiments from the Colorful Seasons which I felt was appropriate.  I love this stamp set as it is so versatile.

Next up is the fabulous Nikki Spencer.

We would love you to join in with this challenge and add your entry to our Facebook group, which you can join here.
