ESAD 2017 Holiday Catalogue Fancy Folds and 3d projects Blog Hop

Welcome to the ESAD 2017 Holiday Catalogue Fancy Folds & 3D Projects blog hop!  You may have come from Courtenay Heuston or be starting here with me!

I have created a couple of projects for you tonight.  I wanted to have a play with the Lovely Laurel thinlits so I decided to create a set of napkin holders for my Christmas table.

I created a circle of Silver foil and cut out the wreath from the thinlits in Tranquil Tide.  I then cut out the banner in Gold Glimmer paper.  (Because it’s Christmas and you need sparkle!!)  Now if you could do nice, fancy writing and write a name on it, or you can add a stamp from the Christmas Happiness and cut it out using the Lovely Laurel thinlit.

Of course, if you are having Christmas dinner at your place, you might be wanting to send an invite out.  So I create a matching card.

If you follow me, you’ll notice that I never decorate the inside of my cards!  But, on this card, I did the inside first!

I created the wreath and the banner as per the place holder.  I wanted to add a bigger sentiment into the middle of the card, so I stamped the sentiment from Merry Little Labels using markers.  I then placed it into the middle of the card and gently folded it.  Once I had a fold line on the circle, I then scored it and attached it to the banner.

For the front of my card, I used the Good Tidings stamp set.  I love the rustic look of the holly leaves.

I hope you have enjoyed my projects for tonight’s hop.  Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think.  Next up is my friend, Peta Stephen.

CTC44 – All about the Colour (In Colours, that is!!)

Each week, at Case-ing the Catty, a group of talented demonstrators get together and CASE (Copy and Share Everything) from the latest Stampin’ UP! catalogue.

This week, we are up to the Colour Collections and in particular, we are looking at the latest 2015-2017 collection.

in colours

When I first saw these colours, I wasn’t particularly taken with them however after playing with them at convention and then receiving my pre-order, I have fallen in love with some of them and like the rest. You can guess which ones I love!!!

I decided to continue in the theme of Case-ing the catty and went with the box on page 22. I decided to turn it into a card instead.

p22

See the box on the left, kinda cute, isn’t it! Choose Happiness is a stamp set which I didn’t notice at first but is slowly becoming one of my go to sets. I made two versions of this card (well actually I made a mistake and then decided to make two! LOL).

On the first card, I stamped the birds randomly using Mint Macaron, Watermelon Wonder and Crushed Curry. On the background, I stamped the leaves on Tip Top Taupe (say that fast three times!!) cardstock using Tip Top Taupe ink. I also stamped the sentiment in Tip Top Taupe.

So on the second card, (which is what I meant to do in the first place!!) I stamped the bird on a piece of scratch paper and then onto the cardstock. I think the technical term is second generation stamping. Fancy, I know!

I hope you like my cards this week. Please let me a comment and let me know.

Workshop time!

I had a workshop recently and the hostess wanted to do a thank you card as she gives out plenty of them.

I found a card on Pinterest by Klompen Stampers, here, which was the inspiration for my card.

I have a couple of packets of the Typeset DSP, so I wanted to use some of that on my card. We stamped the flower from the Choose Happiness stamp set on the DSP in Rose Red and the leaf outline in Crumb Cake. I added a strip of gold glimmer paper down each side of the dsp for a bit of sparkle.

I stamped the sentiment from the Me = Grateful stamp set and cut it out using the new Lots of Labels framelits. I also cut out the next size framelit and did some paper piercing using the updated essentials piercing kit. Love that look!!

thanks

Here’s a close up of the paper piercing.

CTC22 – It’s time for a sketch challenge!!

This week at Caseing the Catty, we are doing a sketch challenge from the Sale-a-bration catalogue.

ctc 22 sketch

It’s from page 17 of the AU/NZ SAB catalogue. I was actually a bit stuck on this one as I didn’t want to do a butterfly, but then I decided why not!! I love these framelits so I took the opportunity to use the largest butterfly. I cut it out, then sponged it with Real Red to get a mottled look. But it needed some shine, so I embossed it 3 times with clear embossing powder to make it blingy!!

I then got out my sewing machine!!! Yes, I have given in and sewn on a card. Just this once, though. It’s too much of a hassle doing that!! Although I do like the look of it. I used the Stacked with Love DSP stack from the Occasions catalogue and covered it with a piece of vellum.

I also embossed a piece of silver foil sheet with the Spring Flowers embossing folder to give a bit of texture to the border. Then a quick stamp of silver ink onto black cardstock using the Choose Happiness set and punched out with the decorative label punch, and there we go.

So make sure you join in with the Challenge at http://www.caseingthecatty.blogspot.com.au

You can directly CASE (Copy and Share Everything) or use a sketch/layout, colour combo, embellishment, just to name a few examples, as a springboard for your own creations. It doesn’t even have to be about scrapbooking, journaling or Project Life. For example, you can use a sketch idea for a card or 3D item.

Guidelines

Guidelines –
• Create a new project for the current challenge.
• Mention CTC Challenges in your blog post and link back here so others can join in on the fun. Please ensure that you link up your blog post, not your whole blog.
• Mostly SU (Stampin’ Up! ®) products (retired or current) to be used in your projects for CTC Challenges.
• Have fun and inspire others!

Hope you can join in!!

Happy Stamping
