CTC238 – Casing Garden Lane DSP

It’s so fun to play with the colours in our gorgeous Designer Series Papers!! This week, we are casing the colours from the Garden Lane DSP, being Garden Green, Mint Macaron, Mossy Meadow, Pear Pizzazz, Soft Sea Foam, Whisper White. You can also use the layouts from pages 36-38 and 40-41 as inspiration.

When I start with colour challenges, I get out a piece of cardstock in each of the colours and then play around with them to see which combo jumps out at me. What also jumped out of my cardstock was a piece of Mint Macaron embossed with the Tufted embossing folder so that seemed liked a good place to start!!

For my first card, I used Soft Sea Foam and Mint Macaron. I based my card on the layout from page 36, but it did evolve as I made the card. (I don’t plan out a card before I make it, it just kind of comes together!!)

I was going to add the large flower from the Band Together stamp set, which I embossed in copper on a piece of vellum, then fussy cut out. When I went to assemble the card, it looked better without the flower.

I also cut out a banner from the Detailed Bands die which match the stamp set. I did trim off the tabs at the sides. I also cut out the matching oval and embossed the sentiment in copper.

So I couldn’t waste the flower, so I created another card using a piece of the Garden Lane DSP, Garden Green and Pear Pizzazz.

I cut out the sentiment piece from the Detailed Bands die and cut off the side. I just stamped the sentiment in Pear Pizzazz ink. It needed a bow, so I used the Scalloped Lace trim.

Don’t forget if you spend $90 this month, you can earn a $9 voucher to use in August. #buyallthedsp

CTC234 – Pressed Petals

Welcome to a fun week at Caseing the Catty!! We are trying a few different challenges and this week, we are casing the colour scheme from the gorgeous Pressed Petals Specialty DSP.

This DSP is just so pretty and I love all the colours together.

Whenever I do a colour challenge, I always get out the cardstock in all the colours and see what inspires me. I didn’t want to use the Pressed Petals DSP (well, actually I did but I wanted to try something different).

I just got the Band Together stamp set and the co-ordinating Detailed bands dies. This stamp set features a really large flower which is great for colouring. I fussy cut my flower and coloured with Old Olive and Rococo Rose blends.

I layered up with Crumb Cake, Night of Navy and embossed a piece of Pear Pizzazz with the 3d Layered Leaves embossing folder. I cut the band in Daffodil Delight. The centre piece does come out but I needed something to stamp the sentiment on.

Next up is my lovely friend across the ocean, Sandra.

We would love to see what you create with this colour combo! Share it over on at our Facebook Group.

CTC233 – Casing a Layout

Oh it’s a wonderful, drizzly rainy day today! A rainy day is the perfect craft day. Who am I kidding, any day is a perfect craft day!

We are trying a few different challenges at CTC and this week we are casing layouts on page 36. There are 8 different layouts on this page and you can case any one of them.

I decided to case the layout on the right with the three layers of paper.

I just received the Stitched Lace die and wanted to use it straight away!! I cut out three pieces in Pretty Peacock, Pool Party and Coastal Cabana. I used my new Take Your Pick Die Brush tip to get the little pieces stuck in the die out. I was really impressed at how well it worked. I still had to poke out a few pieces but much better than my old tool.

The Detailed Bands dies also includes a couple of great shapes, perfect for sentiments. I cut one out in Pretty Peacock and embossed the sentiment from the Band Together in white.

I can’t wait to play further with these dies!

Next up is fellow kitty lover, Peta!

We would love to see which layout you case from this page. Make sure you share your creations with us on our Facebook group.
