It’s always fun playing with colour at Colour Inkspiration!  This week, we are playing with the new Brights collection.

ci37

Aren’t they all lovely colours!  Now, don’t be like me and grab a colour that used to be in the brights to create your card!  At least I’m ahead for the Regals challenge in September!!

So our challenge this week is to create a card using 3 of these gorgeous colours.  You can add any of the basics as well. Oh and bling, if you want it.

I have been loving all the samples I’ve seen of the Postcard Pals set. I don’t normally go for such a detailed stamp but I just love those cute animals!

Now I did introduce a couple of neutrals to colour in the squirrel (whose name is George, btw) but I think you’ll forgive me. The base of the card is Coastal Cabana.  The next layer is Daffodil Delight which I’ve embossed using the Subtle embossing folder. I just love the gentle distressed look of this folder.

George is coloured with lots of Stampin blends.  For his body, I’ve used Crumb Cake, with Ivory for his cheeks.  His shirt is Bermuda Bay and the letter box is Soft Suede with a touch of Poppy Parade for the flower. Then a little bit of Granny Apple Green for the grass.

I created a frame in Bermuda Bay using my favourite Stitched Shape framelits and the layering square framelits.  The sentiment is from the Postcard Pals set as well.

Isn’t George cute!!

Next up is Nikki, I can’t wait to see what she has created.

It’s a Panda Party!

I had a great Easter weekend at Stanthorpe celebrating my niece’s 18th birthday.  As I mentioned on a previous post, I made her cake.

amy-cake-b

It has four layers of red velvet cake with buttercream icing and a white chocolate ganache for the drip.  My lovely friend Emma from Acacia Grey Studio created the stunning topper for me.  Check out her Facebook page, here.

I’m getting ready to start my first shift as a volunteer at the Commonwealth Games today.  I’m excited but a bit nervous too!!

I’ve had a bit of time to play in the craft room since I got back home on Sunday so I decided to have a go at Bronwyn Eastley’s super cute tutorial for the Party Panda, Double Pop Up, Gate Fold, Box card!  Check out her post about it here.

I didn’t have all the die and stamp sets needed to create this stunning card, but I was able to substitute from my stash!

I apparently don’t have any dies that have grass so I used the retired scissors that I still have.

This is such a cute card!  The tutorial is relatively easy to follow as long as you read each step as you go.

If you love this card as much as I do, you can purchase the tutorial here.

CTC162 – Sweet Soiree

ctc_header

Here in Queensland, school starts for the year tomorrow.  So good luck to all the parents and kids heading back!!  And to all the amazing teachers as well!!

This week’s challenge is the Sweet Soiree section, pages 10-14 of the 2018 Occasions Catalogue.

ctc162-fb

Isn’t this a pretty suite!!  I do love it but I decided to case one of the other stamp sets in these pages.  I went with the cute little deer card on page 14.

ctc162-bec-c

I don’t have the A Good Day stamp set yet so I went with the Bird Banter stamp set.  I actually googled the colours of parrots to work out a more realistic colouring of the birds.

Firstly, I stamped the birds in Memento Black ink on Thick Whisper White card stock.

I then used the Pacific Point water colour pencil to create a sky.

ctc162-bec-a

And then grabbed a blender pen and coloured it more.  I then coloured all the birds and blended them.  I created the banner the same as the inspiration card.  Those new scallop punches are so cute!!

Where’s the Mermaid?

Well it’s been a little while but I’m back creating with the AddInktive Design Team!   Bronwyn has been busy creating lots of fabulous tutorial’s and we shall be seeing many more this year as she has retired from her “real” job and will be focusing on her SU business.  (I wish I could too!!, Jealous much!!)

Addinktive Design team button - December 2017

So I wanted to have a play with the new Mermaid Shaker Box card that Bronwyn has created.  Check it out here.

I don’t have the Myths and Magic suite so I went through my 2018 Occasions catalogue to see what I could use instead.  I decided to use the Flying Home stamp set which I received for free at Centerstage (a leadership event) at Onstage in November.

I recently purchased the Naturally Eclectic card overlays which are in the 2017-2018 Annual catalogue.  I had not noticed these until now and they are lovely!!  They are 4″ x 6″ acetate overlays in white and gold.

I used the new Gold Glitter flakes as part of my shaker card.  Now make sure that you seal it up firmly otherwise those flakes can go everywhere!!  (Just ask me how I know!!)

I stamped the images from the Flying Home stamp set onto the Thick Whisper White card stock so that it was a bit firmer when I fussy cut it out.  I coloured it in with the watercolour pencils and blender pen.

Oh and I used the Naturally Eclectic DSP as well.

The sentiment comes from the Bird Banter stamp set and I used the Classic Label punch (but re-punched the ends so that I had a banner end).

If you would like to make this gorgeous box card, you can purchase the tutorial from Bronwyn, here.

I’d love to hear what you think of this card.  Oh and in case you were worried how this fits into an envelope, it does fold flat and fits into a standard size envie.

Onstage Presentation – Part 2

Here is the second part of my post about my Onstage Local Presentation in Melbourne. You can check out part one here.

I also created a number of tags using the To and From stamps from the Fruit Basket stamp set and every sheet of the Tutti Frutti DSP stack.  I really love these papers!

I used an assortment of punches and framelits to create these tags.

I hope I have inspired you to create with the Tutti Frutti bundle!

Up, Up and away!!

I’m so excited to share that I have been chosen to be a part of The AddINKtive Designs team!!   My clever friend, Bronwyn Eastley, creates the most amazing card tutorials (check out her tutorial shop here).  Each month, I’ll be showcasing my projects using her tutorials.

For my first card, I decided to use the One Wild Ride, Z-Fold, Slider card tutorial (Try saying that fast!!).  You can check it out Bronwyn’s card, here.

I don’t have the One Wild Ride stamp set so I had a look through my stamps to see what might work.  I found the Lift Me Up stamp set and the matching Up and Away thinlits and thought that the large thinlit balloon would work perfectly on the slider.

I was so brave and decided to cut that stunning piece of dsp from the Birthday Memories DSP, you know, the one with the animals walking over the hill.  I thought it would look like the hot air balloons were floating in amongst the drifting balloons in the sky!

Using old olive cardstock, I created the slider piece and added in some hills.  I sponged it to get some texture but it still need a little bit of something else.  Just as I went to grab my camera to take the photos, I noticed the Sheltering Tree stamp set and it has a grass stamp!!  Just what it needed.

To cut out the large balloon thinlit, I stuck together the piece of dsp and a piece of thick whisper white cardstock using the returned Multipurpose adhesive sheets.  I wanted to give the balloon a bit of stability so that it would fall over.  I then put a little piece of white cardstock behind the basket so that you can’t see the dimensional behind it.

I then coloured the balloon stamps with markers and cut them out using the thinlits.  I just love not having to fussy cut!  I deliberated for a while about what sentiment to use but ended up going with one from the Birthday banners set.

I have discovered that these cards are hard to photograph!  So here we go!!

I’ll be sharing a tutorial from Bronwyn each week so make sure you follow my blog!

Let me know what you think about this project!

Happy Stamping

Wow, what a tutorial!!

My clever friend, Bronwyn Eastley at Addinktive Designs, has put out a call for members to join her Addinktive Design Tutorial Design team.

I love her tutorials!  The cards are amazing, and her instructions have great photos and lots of detail.  I purchased the Z-fold card with a Picket Fence tutorial last year and ran it as a class for my regular stamping class.  I realised I didn’t blog about it, so here we go!!

I love the Jars of Love set.  I was a little late to the party getting this set, but I’m so glad I did.  When I did this card as a class, I actually stamped and cut out all the flowers for my 10 ladies.  Yes, ALL OF THEM!!  Did you know that adds up to about a million flowers!  Well, it felt like it!!

So here it is closed, so you can see it does fit into a standard envelope.

Here’s a front on view. (BTW, it’s not the easiest card to photograph!!)

Can you see the Z?

Isn’t it pretty!!

Whilst it was a challenge to make this in a class, the ladies did a great job and really enjoyed it.

I’m going to have to try this one using a different stamp set and see how it turns out.

Let me know what you think!

Happy Stamping
