Up, Up and away!!

I’m so excited to share that I have been chosen to be a part of The AddINKtive Designs team!!   My clever friend, Bronwyn Eastley, creates the most amazing card tutorials (check out her tutorial shop here).  Each month, I’ll be showcasing my projects using her tutorials.

For my first card, I decided to use the One Wild Ride, Z-Fold, Slider card tutorial (Try saying that fast!!).  You can check it out Bronwyn’s card, here.

I don’t have the One Wild Ride stamp set so I had a look through my stamps to see what might work.  I found the Lift Me Up stamp set and the matching Up and Away thinlits and thought that the large thinlit balloon would work perfectly on the slider.

I was so brave and decided to cut that stunning piece of dsp from the Birthday Memories DSP, you know, the one with the animals walking over the hill.  I thought it would look like the hot air balloons were floating in amongst the drifting balloons in the sky!

Using old olive cardstock, I created the slider piece and added in some hills.  I sponged it to get some texture but it still need a little bit of something else.  Just as I went to grab my camera to take the photos, I noticed the Sheltering Tree stamp set and it has a grass stamp!!  Just what it needed.

To cut out the large balloon thinlit, I stuck together the piece of dsp and a piece of thick whisper white cardstock using the returned Multipurpose adhesive sheets.  I wanted to give the balloon a bit of stability so that it would fall over.  I then put a little piece of white cardstock behind the basket so that you can’t see the dimensional behind it.

I then coloured the balloon stamps with markers and cut them out using the thinlits.  I just love not having to fussy cut!  I deliberated for a while about what sentiment to use but ended up going with one from the Birthday banners set.

I have discovered that these cards are hard to photograph!  So here we go!!

I’ll be sharing a tutorial from Bronwyn each week so make sure you follow my blog!

Let me know what you think about this project!

Wow, what a tutorial!!

My clever friend, Bronwyn Eastley at Addinktive Designs, has put out a call for members to join her Addinktive Design Tutorial Design team.

I love her tutorials!  The cards are amazing, and her instructions have great photos and lots of detail.  I purchased the Z-fold card with a Picket Fence tutorial last year and ran it as a class for my regular stamping class.  I realised I didn’t blog about it, so here we go!!

I love the Jars of Love set.  I was a little late to the party getting this set, but I’m so glad I did.  When I did this card as a class, I actually stamped and cut out all the flowers for my 10 ladies.  Yes, ALL OF THEM!!  Did you know that adds up to about a million flowers!  Well, it felt like it!!

So here it is closed, so you can see it does fit into a standard envelope.

Here’s a front on view. (BTW, it’s not the easiest card to photograph!!)

Can you see the Z?

Isn’t it pretty!!

Whilst it was a challenge to make this in a class, the ladies did a great job and really enjoyed it.

I’m going to have to try this one using a different stamp set and see how it turns out.

Let me know what you think!

We are back with another gorgeous colour challenge for you this week.

Aren’t those boots amazing!  I want some in that colour!!  This week’s colours are Smoky Slate, Rich Razzleberry, Soft Sky and Night of Navy.

When I get ready to create my colour projects, I always get out the card stock and look at it together and see what grabs me about it.  The Rich Razzleberry stood out for me with this one so I decided to make it the background piece.  Then I grabbed the Graceful Garden stamp set and decided to use the matching Garden Trellis embossing folder.

I love the new crinkled seam binding ribbon and I was excited that this challenge include Night of Navy so I could use my ribbon!!  I added the bow at the base of the flower so that it looks like it is tied around the bouquet.

Speaking of the flower, I embossed it in gold and fussy cut it out.  You know that’s my favourite thing, right!!  NOT!!!  Well, the embossing part is!

My sentiment comes from Teeny Tiny Sentiments.  Such a handy stamp set especially when you only want a small sized greeting.  Now, how did I get that little banner?  Well I used the Classic label punch to punch out the sentiment, then went to the side of the punch and re-inserted the banner and punched out a small piece.  (ok, it’s a bit hard to describe, but it’s easy to do!!)

Next up is the talented Krissy Buck
