Welcome to another fun challenge at Colour Inkspiration!!
We are using Pacific Point, Coastal Cabana and Shaded Spruce.
I thought I would have a play with the Christmas Gleaming stamp set and the matching punches, known as the Christmas Gleaming Variety Bundle. This is a set which has carried over from last year and I’m so glad that it has! And if you loved the Brightly Gleaming Specialty DSP from last year, it has also carried over.
I embossed the background using the Dainty Diamonds embossing folder. It isn’t specifically a Christmas embossing folder but it feels a bit that way to me!
I stamped three holly leaves and one of each of the ornaments in Memento black. I then coloured the holly using Shaded Spruce and Cherry Cobbler blends (don’t tell Lou, I’ve added another colour in!!) I coloured the ornaments using markers, ink pad and aqua painters. I hand cut the holly and used the Gleaming Ornaments Punch pack for the ornaments.
I used a piece of Snowflake Splendor ribbon to hang the ornaments from the holly.

I hope you are having a great weekend! It’s quickly turning into spring in Queensland!! I spent 2 hours yesterday picking mulberries. I ended up with 4.6kg of mulberries!! And there is still more on the tree to pick. I’ve made muffins so far, but I’m going to try Mulberry Iced Tea and a Mulberry Crumble cake this afternoon.
We are casing a layout this week! It’s on page 29 of the August – December 2020 Mini Catalogue.
And here’s the sketch image.
This sketch can be done so many ways!! I had so many ideas for my card this week that I ended up doing 2.
Firstly a Christmas card. I’ve just got the Peace & Joy Bundle which I didn’t think I needed but apparently I do!! I used the Dainty Diamonds embossing folder on a piece of Real Red cardstock for the background. I then cut 3/4″ strips from some leftover pieces of ‘Tis the Season DSP and then layered them across the card on slight angles. I then stamped Joy in Shaded Spruce and cut it out with the Joy dies. And then the outline in Shaded Spruce as well. I mounted Joy with mini dimensionals. I added some Gold trim behind the sentiment for a bit of bling.
For my second card, I used the Whale of a Time DSP. I embossed the background using the Old World Paper embossing folder in Blackberry Bliss cardstock.
I just cut up one piece of DSP and layered them not quite evenly across the card. I’ll just blame the lumps on embossed paper for not being even!! The sentiment is from So Sentimental and I’ve cut it out using the Stitched Rectangle dies.
Next up is the lovely Tina.
We would love to see your creation using this sketch, so please share over on at our Facebook group here.
I always start off by getting a piece of cardstock out of each colour and seeing what moves me. I then look at my stamp sets and go from there. I thought I would use the Jar of Flowers stamp set. So I layered up my base using Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White and a piece of dsp from the 2020-2022 In colour DSP stack in Misty Moonlight, to add a bit of interest to the background.
In order to make the jar stand out, I cut out a piece of whisper white using my favourite dies, Stitched So Sweetly dies and punched out the jar in the middle using the Jar punch.
I then stamped the stems and flowers in Memento Black and cut them out by hand. I coloured the stems using a Pear Pizzazz marker and the flowers using a combo of blends and markers. Don’t you hate it when you find one of your markers has dried up halfway through colouring! I rubbed the end of the marker into the ink pad to get the flower finished!
The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Greetings and I used the Banners Pick a Punch for the ends.
Make sure you check out our Facebook group to see the cards the other Design Team members have created using this colour combo. I have to say that they are stunning!!
Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think!
I hope you have been having a great weekend. I’ve had an amazing one!! I was fortunate to be able to attend Stampin’ Up! Leader’s Summit which was meant to be in New Orleans, but sadly not to be. However it was done online and it was fabulous!! The training was fantastic and just what I needed. We also had networking sessions through Zoom and I was able to connect with fellow leader demonstrators in USA, UK and Europe. It did start at 4am, on Saturday and Sunday, so I’m feeling excited but weary now!!
We were also given an amazing gift of crystal wine glasses from Tiffany’s. So excited to receive my first blue box!!
So this week at CTC, we are casing the colours of the Trimming the Town DSP from the August – December 2020 Mini Catalogue. The colours are Early Espresso, Misty Moonlight, Old Olive, Pool Party, Poppy Parade and Whisper White.
I’m afraid I have a confession…. I don’t really like this suite! Well, it’s ok but it’s not on my shopping list. I do like that the dies cut out the dsp.
So I wanted to create a card that wasn’t Christmassy. I kinda feel like Christmas is far away and I’m not ready to embrace it every week!!
I started from the bottom up and the base of my card is Early Espresso. I added a piece of Misty Moonlight dsp from the Trimming the Town DSP and mat it. I’ve just got the Celebration Labels dies (thanks, Judy for enabling me!!) so I cut out one in Pool Party and embossed it with the subtles embossing folder. I then cut out a peony from the Peony dies in Poppy Parade and Old Olive. Just a quick tip, if you want to make the petals darker, just colour it using a Stampin’ Blend!. Then it’s the same colour, just a different shade.
My sentiment is from the Peaceful Moments stamp set in Poppy Parade and I’ve used the new Banners Pick a Punch. I love me a good banner!!
I do love these peonies!! They look complicated but they are so easy to put together.
Next up is the lovely Tina.
