GDP#006 – All about the angles

I always look forward to seeing what challenge is up at Global Design Project each Monday. Then I spend the next few days working out what to make.

Well this week, I was making a card for my monthly stamp club class on this coming Saturday and my lovely friend, Emma at Vintage Graffiti, suggested with a few tweaks, my card would suit this week’s challenge.

So I tweaked it and here we are!! I was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest where a white gel pen was used to highlight the leaves on the Lighthearted Leaves stamp set. I wanted the focus to be the Garden Green tree so I stamped the background tree on the Real Red cardstock with Real Red ink.

I then stamped the tree using the new Basic Black ink and cut out using the matching Leaflets framelits (try saying that fast!!). I then highlighted the petals using the Stampin’ Chalk marker.

I then assembled it all together and added a banner using the stamp from the Flurry of Wishes set and my favourite punch, Banner triple punch.

I think it’s kinda cute!!

I’d love to hear what you think, so please leave me a comment below.

Update – I’m excited to share that this card was chosen as a winner for this challenge!! Excited much!! Thank you so much, GDP!!!

GDP #005 – Colour Challenge

When I first saw the colour’s for this week’s challenge at the Global Design Project, I wasn’t too sure about them. But after looking at the team’s gorgeous projects, I decided to give it a try.

Here is the challenge.

These lovely soft colours said flowers to me, so I had a look at my stamp sets and decided upon Butterfly Basics as it has a nice big large flower.

Then I grabbed out some paper and decided to put the Daffodil Delight layer at the back as it is a fairly bright yellow. I then added a Soft Sky layer and then another Whisper White to do the stamping business on.

I love the honeycomb stamp in the set and, using Crumb Cake ink, stamped a few images, stamping off for a couple of them for a softer look. I then used my Daffodil Delight and Pear Pizzazz markers and coloured in the flower.

I decided to make a banner for the sentiment. I am seriously in love with the banner triple punch. It makes me happy every time I punch a nice, even banner. Sad I know!! To curl the banner, I used my bone folder and then a few dimensionals to attach it to the card.

I then cut out a Soft Sky butterfly using my new precision plate. The plate makes it so much easier to get out all the little pieces and it cuts perfect each time. You always need a bit of bling on a card, so I added a circle of gold metallic thread.

I’m quite happy with how it turned out!! I think this will make a great card for my mother-in-law’s 70th birthday!!

GDP003 – A baby is always Big News

At the Global Design Project this week, the challenge is a baby theme. I love the large sentiment on the Big News stamp set, so I decided to base my card around that.

I then choose Mint Macaron and Hello Honey for my colours. I don’t have any of the Baby DSP from this catalogue (I’m trying to be sensible!!) but then I realised that I only have the neutrals DSP stack which doesn’t quite go with my colour theme. But I DO have the Color Me Irresistible Specialty DSP, so I decided to colour the dotty one with my sponge dauber and Mint Macaron.

Once I stamped the image from the Big News stamp set, I coloured the words in with the Hello Honey marker as I wanted them to stand out.

I then stamped a duckie from the Something for Baby stamp set and cut it out with the matching framelits, Baby’s First. I LOVE matching framelits!!

Now I just need to find someone having a baby to give this card too!! I wonder who it will be!!
