GDP230 – Best Dressed Sketch

I decided that today I would join in with the Global Design Project #230 challenge. I was excited to see it was a sketch challenge, which I love!

I flipped through my designer series papers and decided to go with the Best Dressed 6″x6″ DSP stack. But then I couldn’t decide which paper to select so I used them all!! I also had 3″ pieces of each paper already cut, so it was a tad laziness as well!! I went through my cardstock and selected the pieces that matched each piece of dsp. I love how the packaging of paper always lists the matching cardstock.

I used the Sale-a-bration Sending you Thoughts stamp set. This is a handy set as it has different sentiments for a number of occasions. I also used my current favourite, the Stitched So Sweetly dies. I can’t decide which is my favourite card, so here they all are.

Aren’t they all so pretty!! I still can’t pick a favourite! Tell me in the comments which one you like.

GDP – Casing Louise

I don’t get a chance to play along at Global Design Project often but I had a little time to play this week.  They are casing one of the talented designers this week, Louise Sharp.  I love her work so I was excited to join in!

I decided to case the layout and I wanted to use the Birthday Fiesta stamp set as I just love the Llama!!  I used the cactus piece of the Festive Birthday DSP as it’s also a little quirky!  I simply used the reverse side of this paper for the Melon Mambo piece.

The oval sentiment just grew as I started with the happy birthday then I noticed the floral stamp so I added that too!  Fortunately, it fitted into the oval framelits.  I just tucked the Llama in behind the sentiment for a little fun.

I hope you like my card, please let me know in the comments below.

Don’t forget that it is the last week of Sale-a-bration, so make sure you get your freebies soon!!

Casing at Global Design Project

I haven’t played along at Global Design Project for ages, but I had to give it a go this week as the challenge is to case my gorgeous friend, Jessica Williams from The Paper Caper.  So this is her project and the challenge is to either case the layout, colours or theme etc.

jess-gdp-case

I decided to case the colours and the layout.  I love Watermelon Wonder and Mint Macaron and I’ll be really sad when they retire at the end of May.

I was inspired to use the Lift Me Up stamp set from the new 2017 Occasions Catalogue and the matching Up & Away thinlits.  Don’t you just love this balloon!! And look, I used washi tape!!  I always forget to use washi tape but I really love it.  You should see my collection.  lol!!

GDP#0016 – It’s time to play with new goodies!!

Well, I’ve finally done the swap over and put away my Holiday Catalogue products away and have put my new Occasions Catalogue goodies out so that I can play with them!!!

There are so many gorgeous new things to play with, that it’s hard to know where to start!!

I decided to play with the Global Design Project today. This week, the challenge is to case the designer, who is the talented Bibi Cameron from the UK.

GDP016 Case the designer

I used the circle and the sentiment as the inspiration for my card. I just love the word thinlits and I don’t use them enough. I cut out the thanks from the Greetings thinlits in Silver glimmer paper.

One of my favourite stamp sets is Circle of Spring. I just love colouring the flowers with my blender pens. Makes me feel very arty! I stamped with basic black, then coloured in with Mint Macaron and Watermelon Wonder. I created my own background by using my aqua painter and putting a few drops of Mint Macaron ink in the lid of the ink pad and drew my lines across the thick Whisper White cardstock. I am just so arty today!! lol

I think I’m getting better with my Silver cord swirls now that I try to follow the curls of the cord. You’d think seeing as I have curly hair, that I would know to go with the curl not against it!!

I just love the new thick Watermelon Wonder Stitched Satin Ribbon. It’s so nice and thick and shiny. I cut a piece to make a banner across the card and then felt it need something more in the middle. I cut a long piece of ribbon and got out a needle and thread (shock, horror, I know!!) and gathered the bottom of the ribbon. A couple of knots and doesn’t it look great!!

I then put a bit of glue using the fine tip glue pen on the back of the thanks and placed it on the ribbon. To make it stick, I put a large block on top of it and left it for a few minutes until the glue had dried enough. It seems to be hanging on so far!!

It’s always nice when a plan comes together!!
