Catalogue Launch

I always love to have a catalogue launch at the start of a new annual catalogue.  It’s a great way to get the new catalogue in the hands of my customers and it also gives me an opportunity to spoil them as a thank you for supporting my little business.

This year, I combined my launch with the Biggest Morning Tea event run by the Cancer Council.  I think this is a really worthy case and I love to support them each year.  If you would love to donate to my event, you can click on the image below.

So here’s a couple of pictures of my set up on the day.  I decorated with the Pop of Paradise Specialty DSP which is just gorgeous.  I love the colour combo of Basic Black, Melon Mambo and Gold.

So onto the projects that we made on the day.  Stampin’ Up! gave demonstrators the opportunity to purchase products from the new catalogue prior to launch day and also gave us some suggested projects to make using these products!!  How nice of them!!

My first project was a little gift packet using the Kraft Tag a Bag Gift bags.  Have you noticed these before?  I certainly had not!!  You get 10 in the pack for only $6.25.  Using the Pop of Paradise stamp set, I gold embossed the leaves (why is it always windy on the day you do embossing!!).  Gold embossing on kraft paper looks A-MAZ-ING!!  A couple of strips of the DSP wrapped around the bag, some gold ribbon, a smaller piece of the Gold speciality DSP from the pack and a hand cut flamingo (yes, there were complaints about cutting it out!!) and banner, and voila, a gorgeous gift holder!!

For our second project, I got out the Gift Bag punch board and using a 6″ x 12″ piece of Kraft cardstock, I created the box (Using M as the size and not scoring the side triangles).

To speed things up on the day, I pre-cut the swirls and leaves from the Swirly Scribbles thinlits.  So then we got stamping with the swirls in So Saffron, Pool Party, Flirty Flamingo and Sweet Sugarplum from the Swirly Bird stamp set and glued down the petals using the fine tipped glue pen.  I love making banners with the Triple Banner punch.  I cut the whisper white piece to fit the middle sized marking on the punch and the kraft one for the smallest.  To stamp the sentiment, which is from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set, I started with the one in the middle, lining it up with the centre of the banner.  Then stamped on either side.

I used the Playful Palette washi tape on the end of the banner and added a bow of solid whisper white baker’s twine.  Doesn’t it look cute!!

I had my friend, Sarah Jane of Rustic Bakes by Sarah Jane, do the catering for me and I asked her to make some special biscuits for me so I could package them up for the ladies to take home.  They look great and taste pretty good too!!  She also made gorgeous cupcakes, and a chocolate slice and a passionfruit slice.  Nom, nom!!

I hope you enjoyed my projects, the ladies who came to my launch did!!

Oh, how I love a good box!!!

I love all things 3d really but especially boxes, so I was excited to see that this week’s Case-ing the Catty challenge was the Gift Packaging section of the catalogue. There are lots of great packaging options in the catalogue from bags, boxes and more.

I decided to make 2 projects this week. For my first project, I thought I would case the box on page 65 of the catalogue. (It has a silver doily on it, so I was sold!!)

But I decided to not make a box, but try a bag made with the new Gift Bag punch board. I decided to add a flap to the top of the bag so that it would have a closure and the tag could be attached to it.

I reversed the colours used from the sample and went with a piece of dotty Melon Mambo from the Brights Collection DSP stack. I hope you like my gift bag!

For my second project, I wanted to try the hamburger box on page 61. Only one problem, I don’t have the Hamburger box die. So I got out my trusty gift box punch board and a piece of the Color Me Irresistible Specialty DSP and 60 seconds later, voila, I had a box!!

To make the flower, I used a piece of whisper white envelope paper. It’s a lighter paper which made it easier to work with. I cut out a number of petals from the Bouquet Bigz L die, and curved them slightly with my bone folder. I then stuck the petals together with glue dots. You can use either tombow glue or hot glue but I didn’t want to make a big mess and I was in a hurry to get it done! I also cut the black flower centre from the die. I attempted to make the yellow flower centre but as you can see, there’s a pearl in the middle. Less said about that, the better!!

Now I have to mention, I had a bit of trouble getting a good photo of the box, so please excuse my photos!!
