CTC159 – Case any project from the 2017 Holiday Catalogue

ctc_header

Can you believe that this is our last hop and challenge for the year!!  A big thank you for hopping with us over the year.  We really appreciate your comments and for joining in with our challenges.

For our last challenge, we are casing any project from the 2017 Holiday Catalogue.

CTC159---fb

There are so many lovely projects in this catalogue that it was hard to choose.  But one of my favourite sets has been the Christmas Quilt bundle.  I’m really sad that it is not carrying over.

I decided to case the Red peace card in the centre of the page 4.

The Quilted Christmas DSP is so lovely, I’ve really struggled to cut it!  But I did manage a few cuts for these cards!!  I decided to make 2, one more of a direct case with a few changes, then the other with more.

CTC158 – It’s my age page!

ctc_header

I hope you are going well with your Christmas shopping.  I finished mine this week!  Woo hoo!! Well, I might get my husband a couple of other little things, but I’ve got all the main shopping done.

We are having a fun challenge this week at Caseing the Catty.  Our challenge is to case a project from the page that is your age (or the age you would like to be!).

CTC158---fb

So I’m casing a project from page 43 of the 2017 Holiday catalogue.  I went with the card on the top left corner.

ctc158-bec-b

I liked the idea of stamping on the background with a piece of vellum over the top.  I used the Christmas Happiness stamp set and stamped the branch in Wild Wasabi.  I then cut out a piece of vellum and embossed the sentiment from Festive Phrases in gold embossing powder.

I added a square of whisper white behind the sentiment so that you could see it clearly.  I then added a Green sprig and tied it with gold ribbon.  It’s a fairly simple card but I’m happy with how it came out!

CTC157 – Case a Colour Combo

ctc_header

Can you believe that in only 3 weeks, we will be preparing for the best day of the year!!  Can’t wait!!  (Although I have so much to do between now and then!!)

This week, we are casing a colour combo from either the 2017-2018 Annual Catalogue or the 2017 Holiday Catalogue.

CTC157---fb

I’m still needing Christmas cards, so I turned to the 2017 Holiday catalogue.  I decided to go with a non-traditional combination which I found on page 35.

ctc157---bec-d

Isn’t silver and Pool Party amazing!

I don’t usually start with the end in mind (well, except for the fact that it will be a card! lol!) and today was no exception!  I decided to use the embossing paste and coloured it with a few drops of Pool Party ink.  I also added in a bit of dazzling diamonds glitter.   I then remembered that I got some Silver embossing paste in my pre-order of the 2018 Occasions catalogue, so I decided to give it a go as well.  As I’m needing a few more cards, I made two of each base.

The silver is a slightly different texture to the regular embossing paste and it took a bit longer to dry.

Whilst I was waiting for the bases to dry, I had a look through my Christmas framelits.  I decided to go with the retiring Quilt Builder framelits.  I haven’t actually used the framelit which embossing quilting lines so I decided to make that my feature.  And it looks amazing on silver foil!! The flower is also from the same set of framelits.

To create the banner at the bottom, I used the dotty thinlit from the Swirly Snowflakes thinlits and added a strip of white cardstock down the middle, which I stamped with the sentiment from the Merry Patterns stamp set.

CTC154 – Case a Colouring Project

It’s been an exciting, but full-on weekend!!  I’ve been to the Onstage Local event in Melbourne with my fellow demonstrators!  Onstage is held every 6 months with an Onstage Live event for 3 days (which is in Utah this time), and local events held throughout the world on the same weekend.  Oh and it’s only for demonstrators, so if you want to come in April 2018, you’ll need to join up and become a demo!!

I also had the privilege of being asked to do a presentation of a bundle of products that are coming out for the 2018 Occasions and Sale-a-bration catalogues.  You’ll have to wait until Tuesday to check them out!!

So this week, we are casing a Colouring Project from either the 2017-2018 Annual Catalogue or the 2017 Holiday Catalogue.  I decided to go with the Annual Catalogue since it’s been a while that I had a look through it.

With the arrival of the Stampin’ Blends, I also purchased a few of the colouring stamp sets.  I decided this week to case the Hey You card, on the left on page 169 but I decided to use the other stamp in the set, the Good Vibes stamp.

I stamped firstly on Whisper White thick A4 cardstock, using Memento Black ink.  I started off by colouring the word, Good Vibes using the Bermuda Bay pens as that’s one of my favourite colours!  I then coloured the flowers in all the other colours!  I like bright, what can I say!!

I then embossing a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock using the Layered Leaves embossing folder like the sample.  I added a piece of Pear Pizzaza shimmer ribbon and a bow.  I was actually surprised at how quickly this card came together.

Next up on the hop is the lovely Angela.

I’m off to bed now as I’m stuffed from such a big weekend!!

Happy Stamping

CTC153 – Case a Holiday Catalogue Tag

It’s been another lovely week in Queensland!  Summer is definitely coming quickly!

We are casing Tags from the 2017 Holiday Catalogue this week.

As I was flipping through the catalogue, I realised how many tags are actually in there!  So many!  I actually ended up not casing a tag but casing another project and turning it into a tag.  I cased the Stocking and pillow box on page 15.

I love the snowflake included in this set so I had to use that!  I created the base of the tags using the pillow box die and cut it by hand to the score lines.  I used the lovely Merry Music Specialty DSP as the base for the wreath tag.  I then stamped out the holly leaves from the Tags and Trimmings stamp set on Pear Pizzazz cardstock and Wild Wasabi cardstock.  I cut them out using the dies and laid them in a circle to see how they fit.  Once I was happy with the layout, I then attached them using a glue dot under the end of leaf.

I then inked up just a part of the Celebrate the season stamp with versamark and did some white embossing on the black cardstock.  I used the banner triple punch to cut the ends of the banner and used a dimensional to attach it.  To create the holly leaves, I cut the trimming die in Cherry Cobbler and just carefully cut the balls off.  I used the white chalk pen and then some Wink of Stella for a bit of bling.   A small piece of gold ribbon and voila, all done!

I used a second base of the pillow box die as before, and stamped it with the snowflake stamp in Crumb Cake.

I then stamped the sentiment onto a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock.  The “inside” words weren’t quite as solid as I would have like, so I used my black marker to go over the stamping.  I added a piece of Real Red ribbon to the top and bottom of the sentiment piece and used it to create the hanger as well.

I then cut out the snowflake from a piece of Dazzling Diamonds and the Pear Pizzazz button.

I hope you like my tags today.  Make sure you come and join in with the challenge at our facebook group.

Make sure you  hop on over to visit Peta.

Happy Stamping

CTC152 – Painted Autumn and Spooky Nights

Can you believe that it’s the end of October! This year is flying past!!

We are casing the Painted Autumn/Spooky Night Section of the 2017 Holiday Catalogue, pages 48-55.  Halloween isn’t celebrated a lot in Australia although there seems to be more happening each year.  I’m not a fan, so I decided to case a project that used the Painted Autumn DSP.

Even though we are heading (very quickly!) into summer, I love the autumn theme of this dsp.  I am casing the centre card on page 51 of the catalogue.

I used the Painted Autumn DSP as the background.  I used the Oh So Eclectic stamp to create the floral scene.  I stamped the flowers in Early Espresso.  I made sure the ink was dry and then I coloured the flowers with the Daffodil Delight Stampin Blend pens.  I love the really crisp look of the pens.  I also stamped the larger flower in Daffodil Delight and outlined the seams with the darker Blend and then added some Wink of Stella for a bit of sparkle.

I used the large birthday sentiment from Happiest of Days but using the Early Espresso marker to only ink up the sentiment and not the greenery.  I then cut it out with one of the Stitched Shape Oval framelits.

To create the bow, I used the Copper trim and stretched it out to make it look a bit fuller.

Here’s a close up of the detail.

I really enjoyed making this card!  It’s nice to do something other than Christmas!

Next up is fellow cat lover, Peta.

CTC150 – Favourite Big Shot project

Here we are back at another week of Caseing the Catty.  We are casing our Favourite Big Shot project from the 2017 Holiday catalogue.

There are so many great big shot projects in this catalogue.  I couldn’t believe how many dies are in it.  It was hard to decide which project to choose!

I decided to go with the Tags and Trimmings bundle on page 15, using the Trim Your Stocking thinlits and the matching stamp set, Tags & Trimmings.

Wouldn’t it be fabulous to see an advent calendar with these cute stockings!  Sadly, I don’t have the time to make 25 of them!!  But I can make 3!  I decided to make a Joy banner instead.

Sadly you can’t tell that the baubles are sparkly!  I’ve used Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper.

I just love the mini dimensionals.  They are so handy to use with the Large Letters framelits.

I used the new Quilted Christmas ribbon to make a little loop for the red tinsel trim to go through.  The photo really doesn’t do it justice to show how lovely it is.

Next up my amazing friend, Rose.  Happy Birthday for yesterday!

I hope you can join us at our Facebook group this week to share your projects.

Happy Stamping
