I’ve had a fun weekend out at Stanthorpe as my youngest niece is turning 18. We had a family weekend of celebrations! I made her a chocolate raspberrry layered cake. It was delicious! And happy birthday my sweet girl!!
We have a fun case this week!! We are casing the animals of the 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue.
There are lots of cute animals cards in the catalogue this year!! It was hard to choose but I ended up going with a combination of the cards on page 54.
I decided to mainly case the card at the top but I also took the idea of creating your own background from the bottom one.
Firstly, I had to check what animal stamp sets I had. Of course, you don’t have to use an animal set but I thought I would. I only have the Free as a Bird set in my current stock (I do have a couple of keepers from ones that have retired). I was going to use an oval to cut out the middle but I went with the Stitched Nested labels dies instead. I stamped the background which is Just Jade cardstock with the leaves from the Free as a Bird set.
I stamped the birds in Memento Black and then coloured using mainly the new In-colour blends, Cinnamon Cider, Misty Moonlight, Magenta Madness, Just Jade and then Mango Melody and Pumpkin Pie. I even used the colour lifter to lighten up the tummies of the birds.
The sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Birthdays set.
Next up is the lovely Sandra in New Zealand.
We would love to see your creations casing the animals of the catalogue so please share over on at our Facebook group.
Oh it’s a bit chilly in Queensland today!! As I type up this post, it’s 12.2 degrees but feels like 8.2. I need to be like my pussy cats and find a patch of sun!!
This week, we are casing a sketch from page 130 of the 2020 -2021 Annual Catalogue.
It’s the one on the right of this pretty set of cards. Here’s the sketch.
I’ve just received the Arrange a Wreath bundle which includes the Arrange a Wreath stamp set and the matching Wreath Builder dies, so I was inspired to use this today for our sketch.
I had a flip through the pretty papers in the Flowers For Every Season DSP to see what might work for this sketch. I ended up going with one of the background pieces in Misty Moonlight for my side panel which I cut out using the Ornate Layers dies. I then cut out a wreath in a piece of Bumblebee patterned dsp. And I did a couple of the little flowers in whisper white. One of the great things Stampin’ Up! have started doing, is to add more than one die of same shape to make it quicker to cut out multiple shapes.
My sentiment is from the Path of Petals stamp set which I inked with Misty Moonlight and cut out with the Stitched Rectangle dies.
I added a couple of rhinestone for a bit of bling.
Don’t you love it when you are editing your photo and you realise that you didn’t stick the sentiment on straight!! Woopsie!!
Don’t forget that when you spend $90 on products in July, you will earn a Bonus Days coupon for $9 to redeem in August.
Next up is the lovely Tina.
We would love to see your creations using this sketch so please share over on at our Facebook group.
Welcome to another week of Caseing the Catty. It’s a wonderful, rainy day today just perfect for crafting. I went out boating with my husband yesterday (I say boating as we didn’t catch any fish!) and it was a beautiful day out on the water.
This week, we are casing the boy cards of the catalogue. As I flipped through the catalogue, I was surprised how many girl cards there are!! We need a few more boy ones.
I decided to case one of the cards on page 33.
I was really drawn to the way the dsp was cut as a frame around the image. I used a piece of the darker timber from the In Good Taste DSP and cut it into 1″ strips. I then attached them to a piece of cardstock the size I wanted as my layer and trimmed the edges.
I then stamped and cut out a bunch of the images from the Sailing Home stamp set and the matching Smooth Sailing dies. I also used a piece of denim ribbon.
Next up is the lovely Michelle.
We would love to see your creations casing the male cards in the catty, so please join us over on at our Facebook group.
Welcome back for the second time tonight!! I’m back with Caseing the Catty as always at 7pm!! We are casing the colours of the Playing with Patterns DSP. There are a lot of colours in this fun pack of paper – Calypso Coral, Coastal Cabana, Crushed Curry, Night of Navy, Purple Posy and Whisper White.
So after I realised that I had created a card using the wrong dsp, I whipped up another one in the same layout in the right colours!!
I’ve used the Peony dies and created 2 flowers in Calypso Coral. Now these flowers are a little difficult to put together but once you know how, it’s easy!! Here’s an picture to show how.
So there are 4 pieces of the flower. On the top left image, you tuck the smallest piece into the next sized piece. Then turn it over (see the bottom left image) and make sure the 2 edges line up. Then glue together. Repeat for the next two layers, tucking into the slot and lining up the back. I hope that helps!!
Onto my card, I’ve used a piece of the Play with Patterns DSP for the background. I cut a strip of whisper white and cut the edges using the Stitched Nested dies. The sentiment is in Calypso Coral and is from the Tasteful Touches stamp set. I also stamped a couple of leaves in Coastal Cabana from the Prized Peony stamp set and cut out using the Peony dies.
So in case you were wondering, here’s my other card, using the colours of the Artistry Blooms DSP.
I used the Artistry Blooms DSP for the background and I also embossed it using the Subtles embossing folder for a bit more texture.
Next up is the lovely Peta.
We would love to see your creations using this colour combo so please share over on at our Facebook group.
