CTC271 – Week 2 – Casing the new catalogue

I’m so excited to share some of my favourite new goodies from the brand spanking new 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue!!

This week, we are casing our favourites from the 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue.

My new catty order has been shipped (yay!!) but not here yet, so I’m sharing a couple of projects using the goodies I received on pre-order.

I love the Onate Garden suite which has been available since April. I’m casing the Thank You card on page 64.

I’m really enjoying the World of Good Specialty DSP and the new brass foil. So the base of my card is Cinnamon Cider (one of the new in-colours). I’ve added a piece of vellum under the foil which I’ve cut out with the Ornate Borders dies. I used Mossy Meadow cardstock for the piece behind the sentiment. I also stamped the sentiment from the Ornate Thanks stamp set in Mossy Meadow (which apparently needs to be re-inked!!)

I couldn’t stop at just one card this week!! I just purchased the Tasteful Touches bundle which includes the Tasteful Touches stamp set and the Tasteful Labels dies. I really got this bundle for the dies as there are so many great labels to use. But I’d seen a few cards done using the stamps so thought I would get both. The In Good Taste DSP is part of this suite and it’s fabulous!! It has lots of great textures including wood, tiles and fabric.

I like the cards on page 123 so I decided to case the blue tile card on the right hand side.

I have cased this fairly closely. I’ve used the same dsp but I’ve used a different die and stamp for the sentiment. I also did my flowers in Crushed Curry. I don’t have the In Good Taste Elements so I used scalloped lace trim.

I love this DSP!! I need more!! (Luckily, there’s another pack in my order that’s on the way!!)

Next up is the lovely Shannon. You are going to love her creation this week.

We would love to see your favourites from the 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue. Share over on our Facebook group.

CTC270 – Week 1 – Favourite retiring punch

Is it Sunday night already? Where did the weekend go? Oh yes that’s right, I had to work yesterday! Makes the weekend seem a lot shorter!!

I’m excited to be sharing our challenge for this week. We are casing our Favourite retiring punches and dies. How to choose!! This week, I’m starting with my favourite retiring punch.

It’s the Decorative Ribbon border punch. This is so versatile. You can use it in so many different ways. You can highlight the little scallops at the bottom, the whole strip or the top portion like I have in my card tonight.

I’ve focussed my card on lots of retiring products. I started with Lovely Lipstick cardstock. I then cut another piece, stamped it in Versamark using the Crackle Paint stamp set and embossed it with gold embossing powder (don’t stress, the gold embossing powder is not retiring!! phew).

I then stamped the sentiment from the Love What You Do stamp set in Lovely Lipstick and cut out using the Stitched Shapes dies (not retiring!!) I then cut out some borders using the Decorative Ribbon Border punch in gold foil and trimmed it to fit around the square.

I felt it need a bit more, so I grabbed the Gold Metallic edged ribbon and coloured it using the Lovely Lipstick dark blend.

Let me know what you think in the comments below. Next up is fellow Queenslander, Peta.

We would love to see your creations using your favourite retiring dies and punches so make sure you share it over on at our Facebook group.

CTC269 – Week 1 – Favourite Retiring Bundle

Welcome to another fun week at Caseing the Catty!! We are casing our favourite retiring bundles from the 2019 – 2020 Annual Catalogue and January – June 2020 Mini Catalogue.

Now there are a few bundles retiring but some of them are carrying through just not as a bundle. But sadly, the bundle I have chosen is leaving us forever. I’ve gone with the Bonanza Buddies bundle which includes the Bonanza Buddies stamp set and the Bonanza dies. Did you know that the dies match the Birthday Bonanza designer series paper and you can cut out the cute animals on the paper using the dies!

I was inspired by the tags on page 34. I love shaker elements on a card so I thought I would turn the tags into a card.

I used the tag die in the set and cut out 2 in each colour and then used one of the smaller stitched rectangle dies to create the window. I added a piece of window sheet over the hole and added some retired gold glitter flakes. Oh and I used the foam adhesive strips to seal it up!!

I then stamped the presents and hand cut them out. I cut out the bird and koala from the DSP using the dies. I then assembled it all and attached to the card base.

If you also love the Birthday Bonanza suite as well, you can still order it here.

Next is my lovely friend, Sandra.

We would love to see your creations over on at our Facebook group.

CTC267 – Week 2 – Flower Time

Welcome to another fun week at Casing the Catty. I hope you are managing with all the things going on. I’m working from home and I am getting used to having a sleep in each morning. I’m going to struggle getting up to drive an hour to work especially if it’s in the middle of winter!!

We are back for week 2 of casing the flowers of the Ornate Garden Suite. Now you don’t need to have the suite (although feel welcome to buy it from my store here!!)

I was inspired by a couple of the Ornate Garden images. For my background, I was inspired by the embossed background on the card on the bottom left. I cut out the large flowers from the Flourish dies and glued them to a base piece of So Saffron cardstock. As I got glue on the background, I sponged the whole background. I then embossed it with my favourite subtles embossing folder.

I’m really trying not to use Happy Birthday sentiments as I have so many birthday cards already. So I used the Flourishing Phrases stamp set and once again, my favourite Stitched So Sweetly dies.

I wanted to add some of the star (?) shapes from the dies but it was an outline die, so I glued it to Old Olive cardstock and cut it out by hand. I added a couple of the Gilded Gems for a touch of bling.

I’m quite happy with how this card turned out! I hope you like it too.

Next up is the lovely Peta.

We would love to see how you have been inspired by the flowers of the Ornate Garden Suite over on at our Facebook group.
