CTC141 – Birthday

Can you believe that Spring is just around the corner?  This year is going past so quickly!!

We are caseing the Birthday section, pages 68-85, of the 2017-2018 Annual Catalogue.

There are so many fabulous cards in this section. As always, it’s so hard to choose which one to case!  I decided to case this card on page 74.

I made two versions of this card.  For the first one, I used the Birthday Memories DSP for the background and I made the Hooray banner in Daffodil Delight and stamped in Pacific Point.  It was nice to just use punches for a change and not get out the Big Shot.   I couldn’t decide where to put the banner as I didn’t want to cover up the cute animals on the paper!  I used the Cherry Cobbler Double stitched ribbon as the banners.

For my second card, I went similar to the catalogue image and used the party lights stamp.  I also added in the Happy Birthday stamp.  I still used the Birthday Memories DSP for the tags on the Hooray circle.

These are two cards I’ll be keeping in my stash for the occasional kid birthday party I get invited to.

I hope you can join us for this weeks challenge, over at our Facebook group.

Next up is my friend Julia.  She has created an amazing project for you!

Seeing as we seem to have a few kitty lovers on the CTC Crew, I wanted to share an updated picture of my two boys, Jaster and Shadow.  Jaster loves to sit on boxes so when my Holiday Catalogues arrived, he had to sit on it!!  Shadow isn’t as crafty, so he is usually having a nap on the lounge when Jaster and I are in the craft room.

We have another gorgeous colour combination at Colour Inkspiration this week with Elegant Eggplant, Soft Sky, Bermuda Bay and Lemon Lime Twist.

As always, I get out the cardstock in each colour and study them for a while to see what inspired me about them.  I then have a look at my stamp sets and see what might work.  I decided on the Brushstrokes stamp set for the background and the Happiest of Days stamp set for the flowers and sentiment.  I really love the line work on this set.

Now don’t have a heart attack, but I actually USED some washi tape on this card!!  From 2 sets,  the Basics Pack 2 and the Basics pack 3.

I used my markers to colour the birthday wishes stamp which is a technique I just love.  I added a little piece of Lemon Lime Twist Ombre ribbon.

I really enjoy doing my projects for Colour Inkspiration as it challenges me to use colours that I might not normally put together.

Make sure you share your projects with this colour combo at our Facebook Group, here.

Next up is the amazing Bronwyn.

We are back with another gorgeous colour challenge for you this week.

Aren’t those boots amazing!  I want some in that colour!!  This week’s colours are Smoky Slate, Rich Razzleberry, Soft Sky and Night of Navy.

When I get ready to create my colour projects, I always get out the card stock and look at it together and see what grabs me about it.  The Rich Razzleberry stood out for me with this one so I decided to make it the background piece.  Then I grabbed the Graceful Garden stamp set and decided to use the matching Garden Trellis embossing folder.

I love the new crinkled seam binding ribbon and I was excited that this challenge include Night of Navy so I could use my ribbon!!  I added the bow at the base of the flower so that it looks like it is tied around the bouquet.

Speaking of the flower, I embossed it in gold and fussy cut it out.  You know that’s my favourite thing, right!!  NOT!!!  Well, the embossing part is!

My sentiment comes from Teeny Tiny Sentiments.  Such a handy stamp set especially when you only want a small sized greeting.  Now, how did I get that little banner?  Well I used the Classic label punch to punch out the sentiment, then went to the side of the punch and re-inserted the banner and punched out a small piece.  (ok, it’s a bit hard to describe, but it’s easy to do!!)

Next up is the talented Krissy Buck

I’ve found some MOJO

I’ve always loved the Mojo Monday challenges, which is a sketch challenge blog, although I don’t follow them regularly.  I was saddened to find out they have finished creating new challenges recently.  They did 500 sketches which is an amazing feat!

However, the sketches are still available on their site and on Pinterest.  I’m still going to use their sketches for inspiration as I think they are great.  So today, I’m using sketch 459.

As soon as I saw this sketch, I knew I had to use the Color Theory DSP Stack.  As I was trying to not use Berry Burst (I thought I should give it a rest!), I went with Dapper Denim instead.

I love the Big on Birthdays set and I haven’t use this stamp of the set yet.  I kept to the same colour theme for my ink and kept it clean and simple.  I also used the Night of Navy crinkled seam binding ribbon and then cut a flower from the Support Ribbon framelits and added a Glitter enamel dot for a bit of bling.

Leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

Don’t forget you can still take advantage of the starter kit promotion.  For only $169 you get to choose $235 worth of product and receive an essentials gift pack and a sneak peak stamp set from the Holiday Catalogue, Carols of Christmas.

CTC138 – Holidays

It’s my favourite time of the week, when I get to share my latest card for the Caseing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop!

This week, we are casing the Holiday section again (you know, Christmas in July!!) pages 112-125 from the 2017-2018 Annual Catalogue.

There’s lots of gorgeous cards in this section so as always, it’s hard to decide which one to case.

I went with the centre card on page 118, with the stripes.

I actually started off with a striped dsp but when I came to assemble the layout, it just didn’t look great.  I’ve cased the layout of this card, with a rectangle piece and the ribbon behind it.

I really love Berry Burst and the crinkle seam binding ribbon is just gorgeous!  So soft and easy to use.   The Big on Birthdays stamp set is one of my favourites, especially this birthday stamp with the flowers.  I stamped in Memento Black Ink and then coloured with the water colour pencils.  To create the pink flowers, I combined two pencils, melon mambo and rich razzleberry, and then blended with the blender pen.

Now you may have noticed that I have a Stitched Shape rectangle.  But we don’t sell rectangles, I hear you say!!  Well, you can make your own.

Step 1 – Cut a piece of cardstock the width of the framelit.

Step 2 – Place the framelit carefully over the piece, (you might feel more comfortable using a piece of washi tape to hold it in place).  Then run it through the big shot but don’t go all the way through.  Stop about two thirds of the way.  (You don’t want to cut the final straight edge)

Step 3 – Then turn the cardstock and place the die (sticking with washi if need be), then run back through the big shot, only going two thirds again.

I hope that helps you to create lots of rectangles!!

Next up is Rachel.

Don’t forget to share your projects on our Facebook group.  We have two winners, a most likes winner and a Crew pick.  You just need to get your entry in by Sunday 7pm and the winner is announced the following Monday.

CTC127 – Favourite Retired Item

It’s been an exciting week for demonstrators as we’ve been able to do our pre-order for the next annual catalogue!!  It’s one of the very exciting perks of being a demonstrator.  I love seeing things first!!

And whilst it’s always exciting to see new products, this week we are showcasing our favourite retiring products from the 2016-2017 Annual catalogue.

It was hard to choose what to case this week as I have quite a few favourite things retiring!  I decided to case the card on page 74 featuring the Cottage Greetings stamp set.  I really love this set, and I’m sad to see it go.

I also used the Pop of Pink specialty DSP, which I love and I inked up using most of the retiring in-colours as well.  (Mint Macaron, I’ll miss you!! sniff)

I have given a sneak peak of a new ribbon as I’ve completely run out of gold ribbon (how on earth does that happen!!).  Check out the cute Daffodil Delight double stitched ribbon at the top of the card.

I’m glad I had another play with this set before it’s gone forever.  If you love it too, make sure you pick up yours today at my online store.

Don’t forget to pop on over our Facebook group and join in this week with your favourite retiring product.

Next up is my lovely friend, Elizabeth.  I can’t wait to see what she has made this week!

I hope you enjoyed the last colour challenge.  It was so nice seeing everyone’s entries!!  Congratulations to the winners.

I found the colours for this next challenge to be, well, challenging!!  Definitely not colours I would put together myself but that’s the point of doing a challenge.  To try different combinations!!

In case you can’t read the tiny writing, the colours are Delightful Dijon, Tip Top Taupe, Soft Suede, Early Espresso and Very Vanilla.

I decided to make my background using the Paisleys & Posies stamp set.  I hesitated to buy this set when it first came out in the Holiday catalogue but I liked all the samples I saw, so when I found it was carrying through, I purchased it along with the matching framelits.  But I haven’t used it until today!!!

Two of my favourite framelits at the moment are the Layering Circles (oh and the squares and ovals) and the Stitched Shape framelits.  They just go so nicely together.  My sentiment is from the Birthday Blooms stamp set.

I hope you have enjoyed my card.  Please leave a comment and let me know.

Oh and make sure you check out the clearance rack as lots of new products have been added.

Next up on the hop is Monique.  I can’t wait to see what she has created.
