CTC89 – Christmas

Happy Christmas in July!!  We are celebrating Christmas in July again at CTC this week.    One of the benefits of being a demonstrator is being able to see new catalogues first.  And this week, we got to see the Holiday catalogue!!!  Oh my goodness, there are so many lovely new things to play with!!  But there are still lovely Christmassy things to enjoy in the Annual Catalogue so that’s what we are sharing this week.

Oh how I love This Christmas DSP!!  It would have to be one of my favourite Xmas dsp’s for a long time.   For my first project tonight, I have cased the Acorn card at the bottom on page 36.

I’ve turned this into a Christmas card by changing the colours but basically I’ve stayed within the same sketch.  I used the Merry Christmas from Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set on the left side of the card.  Instead of using an embossed piece, I used a piece of the This Christmas DSP.  I also changed to the new Delicate White doilies (cos I just got them and I needed to use one!!) Of course a Christmas card isn’t complete without glitter so a Gold Glimmer banner to the rescue!  I am in love with these new banners and I had to get the hostess set, Time of Year, on my last order.

I struggle with making random circles with twine, but I had a go on this card.  Lol.

For my second project, I had to make the popcorn box on page 35.

This glimmer paper box is the reason why I had to buy the popcorn box thinlits.  I don’t usually buy these types of thinlits but I had to have this one!!  It’s too cute!!!  I basically did an exact case as I just love it.  I added a Wink of Stella to the word for an extra bit of sparkle.  You can never have too much bling!

I hope you have enjoyed my projects tonight. Next is the lovely Elizabeth.

It’s not too late to join in with our monthly challenge.

12 Weeks of Christmas – Week 8

12 weeks w8

You know when you make the best plans and then things happen and your plans go astray? Well that happened last week which is why I’m a bit behind with my weekly posts!! I will doing another post to catch up later this week.

One of the stamps which I love in the Holiday Catalogue, is the Dove of Peace. It’s just lovely!! I love how you can colour the dove differently and create a completely different look.

To help my mojo along this week, I had a look at the Global Design Project for inspiration. I love their challenges but I don’t always get the chance to join in. This week, they have a colour challenge of Real Red, Old Olive and Crumb Cake. I love these traditional colours so I was ready to join in!!

GDP013 Colour Challenge

I grabbed out my cardstock and had a play with layers. I already had a piece of Old Olive cut to a good size then added a little border of Real Red. I used a piece of naturals white cardstock (which has retired) to stamp the dove and sentiment on and coloured away with Real Red and Old Olive ink with blender pens. I like using blender pens rather than markers as they give a softer colour.

I didn’t add anything else as I felt the focus was on the dove and the sentiment, which is, of course, the real reason for the season.

I always wanted to do a card with the dove cut out. Anyone would think I like doing fussy cutting!! I still used the same colour theme and just re-arranged my layers. I also stamped the background with the dots and stars from the Holly Jolly Greetings stamp set.

I just love the Banner Triple punch for making banners so easy! A quick punch at each end and voila, a perfect banner!! Seeing as the stamp is called Dove of Peace, I thought the Peace sentiment from the Christmas Greetings thinlits would go nicely with the Dove. Especially if it was gold!! I used the new Fine Tip Glue pen to attach it and then quickly assembled it all together.

I might have to try these out in some non-traditional colours!!

CTC57 – Season of Cheer

This week we are casing one of my favourite sections of the 2015 Holiday Catalogue, Season of Cheer from pages 28 – 34.

It was hard to decide which cards to case as I like so many of them! But I decided to use the Holly Jolly Greetings stamp set and matching Christmas Greetings thinlits on page 34.

For my first card, I chose the Peace snowflake card on the right hand side.

I’ve done my card pretty much the same except that I wrapped the piece of vellum around the snowflake card so that I could attach it at the back. I also noticed that my white embossing powder is not quite so white any more, so it might be time for a new batch! Oh, well, it still looks nice. I do love the word Peace done in silver glimmer paper. So pretty and sparkly.

For my next cards, I cased the Jolly card on page 34.

I made two versions of this card as I’m going to also make it with my stamp club ladies on Saturday. I used the Curvy Corner Trio Punch to do the corners of the card. I actually made a mistake and punched the wrong corner on the white ribbon card but I think I like that one the best!!

I made a few changes to the middle section and used white satin ribbon and the gold and white glitter ribbon.

I hope the ladies enjoy making these!! I sure did!!

The next person on the hop is my lovely friend, Emma at Vintage Graffiti.

12 weeks of Christmas – Week 3

12 weeks w3

I am really enjoying doing this blog series and featuring different stamp sets each week. I’ve been looking forward to show casing the Holly Jolly Greetings stamp set and finally, it’s this week!!

Somehow I managed to order the wood mount version of this set. Make sure you pay attention to how the blocks fit in as this is one of those sets that are a tight squeeze to get in!

I was inspired this week by a sketch at Sweet Sunday Sketches.

For my first card today, I went with a Pool Party and silver theme. I have fallen in love with the snowflake vellum from the Holidays Fancy Foil Designer Vellum pack. I cut out the word using the Christmas Greetings Thinlits dies and silver foil. Did you know that you can purchase the stamp set and thinlits as a bundle and save 15%. That’s a great saving.

I even used some washi tape on the card from the Everday Chic Designer Washi Tape. I have so much washi tape and always forget to use it!! And now I’ve used 10 cms!! LOL

I used the same sketch for my second card, but I turned it on it’s side. This time I went with a traditional colour scheme of Cherry Cobbler, Mossy Meadow and Kraft corrugated paper. I cut the Merry out of gold foil for a bit of bling. I then embossed the snowflake in gold and fussy cut it. I DO NOT LIKE fussy cutting!! I actually cut out 3 snowflakes but it was too much with 3 on the card. I trimmed one of the snowflakes so that it looks a bit smaller. I then added a Metal rimmed pearl to the centre of each one.

Here’s a close up of the snowflakes.

I had to do three cards this week so I could show you the three dies in the Christmas Greetings thinlits. For my final card, I was inspired to dig out my Circle Card thinlits. I haven’t used this for ages and I’ve forgotten how nice it looks!!

I used my favourite Christmas DSP, Home for Christmas, and once again, fussy cut out the Santa. You can’t have a Jolly card without a Jolly Santa!!

The other thing I forgot is how awkward these cards are to photograph!! I just love the word Jolly in the Gold glitter, it’s so sparkly!!

I hope you have enjoyed my post this week. If you missed my posts for the previous weeks, here are the links – Week 1 and Week 2.

Happy Christmas Stamping!
