CTC142 – Love & Sympathy

We’ve had another try of winter today, but I think it might a last blast of the season!  At least I hope so!

We are back casing the Love and Sympathy section of the 2017 -2018 Annual Catalogue, pages 86-101.

This time, I decided to case the card on the left on page 97 featuring the Ribbon of Courage bundle.

I wanted to do a different colour combination so I went to My Create Ink to suggest a combo for me.  I went with Berry Burst, Pear Pizzazz and Powder Pink.

I did a wash of Berry Burst for the background.  I then used Berry Burst for the sentiment which comes from the Ribbon of Courage set.  I then cut out lots of flowers and leaves using Flourish thinlits.  I didn’t actually use them all but I had them just in case.

I also used the Pear Pizzazz Shimmer ribbon which is so pretty.  I added a few pearls to cover the centres of the flowers.

Next up is my lovely friend, Julia!  You’ll love what she has created for us.

Come and join in with us and share your projects of the Love and Sympathy section of the catalogue at our Facebook Group here.

Coffee Easel card with a twist

I’m excited to share another tutorial from Addinktive Designs with you this week.

The tutorial I have decided to focus on is the Coffee Café Easel Card.  You can check out Bronwyn’s card here.

This is another easy to understand tutorial with lots of clear pictures to help you create your project.

I don’t have the Coffee Cups framelits or the Coffee Café stamp set so I decided to use the Lots of Labels framelits with the Coffee Break DSP.

I also used my retired paper piercing pack as it goes nicely with the framelits and adds a look similar to the stitched shape framelits.  For the sentiment on the front, I used the Tabs for Everything stamp set in Soft Sky and Garden Green which I punched out with the Circle tab punch.

On the inside, I have stamped the sentiment from the Just Add Text stamp set and hand cut it out.

If you would like to make your own version of the Coffee Café Easel card, you can purchase the tutorial here.

I’ll be back next week with another great tutorial for you.

Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think!

A small wonder

I don’t know about you but I enjoy doing easy projects every once in a while. I was feeling like exploring doing a One Sheet Wonder but didn’t really have the time to make 11 or 12 cards.

After spending some time (more than I care to admit!!) on Pinterest, I found a One Sheet Wonder for 6″x6″ dsp here on SMD Paper Arts, which creates just 3 cards.

I decided to use the Wood Textures DSP Stack as it’s already the right size! I then trimmed it according to the template.  I did have to trim a little extra as our Aussie cardstock is a little bit smaller than US.

Unfortunately, I’ve had to use a few of my sympathy cards lately, so I needed to make a few to have handy in my stash.  I’ve used the Heartfelt Sympathy stamp set and embossed the sentiments with gold.  The photos don’t really do the embossing justice.

I added a strip of the new black shimmer ribbon which has a little sparkle to it.  I then used the layering framelits and the stitched shape framelits for the sentiment piece.

Hopefully, I won’t need to use these soon but if I do, I’ll have them ready.

A one sheet wonder template is a great resource when you are short of ideas and you get to showcase our gorgeous designer series paper.

Leave me a comment and tell me which is your favourite dsp from the current catalogue.  I’ll feature the most popular one next week.

CTC138 – Holidays

It’s my favourite time of the week, when I get to share my latest card for the Caseing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop!

This week, we are casing the Holiday section again (you know, Christmas in July!!) pages 112-125 from the 2017-2018 Annual Catalogue.

There’s lots of gorgeous cards in this section so as always, it’s hard to decide which one to case.

I went with the centre card on page 118, with the stripes.

I actually started off with a striped dsp but when I came to assemble the layout, it just didn’t look great.  I’ve cased the layout of this card, with a rectangle piece and the ribbon behind it.

I really love Berry Burst and the crinkle seam binding ribbon is just gorgeous!  So soft and easy to use.   The Big on Birthdays stamp set is one of my favourites, especially this birthday stamp with the flowers.  I stamped in Memento Black Ink and then coloured with the water colour pencils.  To create the pink flowers, I combined two pencils, melon mambo and rich razzleberry, and then blended with the blender pen.

Now you may have noticed that I have a Stitched Shape rectangle.  But we don’t sell rectangles, I hear you say!!  Well, you can make your own.

Step 1 – Cut a piece of cardstock the width of the framelit.

Step 2 – Place the framelit carefully over the piece, (you might feel more comfortable using a piece of washi tape to hold it in place).  Then run it through the big shot but don’t go all the way through.  Stop about two thirds of the way.  (You don’t want to cut the final straight edge)

Step 3 – Then turn the cardstock and place the die (sticking with washi if need be), then run back through the big shot, only going two thirds again.

I hope that helps you to create lots of rectangles!!

Next up is Rachel.

Don’t forget to share your projects on our Facebook group.  We have two winners, a most likes winner and a Crew pick.  You just need to get your entry in by Sunday 7pm and the winner is announced the following Monday.

CTC135 – Holidays

I’m finding it hard to believe that we are in July and we are casing the Holiday section of the 2017-2018 Annual Catalogue!!  I’m not ready for Christmas yet!!!

I decided to case the square card on page 114 of the catalogue.  Isn’t this a cute card!

I decided to do a direct case of this card first but then I made a couple of extra versions.  So here is the case version.

I used the Old Olive Mini Chevron ribbon and of course, one of my favourite framelits – the layered square framelits. Oh and of course the stamp set is Oh, What fun.

Then I was inspired by the Painter’s Palette stamp set and the fabulous Wood Textures DSP stack.

For my third card, I used the Flirty Flowers stamp set and the Delightful Daisy DSP.  And I’m pretty sure I haven’t mentioned how I love the mini gold sequins!  Just a little bit!! hehe

I hope you enjoy my cards!  Next up is the fabulous Monique.

Don’t forget to join in with us on our Facebook group and share what you have created!

Happy Stamping!!

CTC133 – Love and Sympathy

It’s so nice having a new catalogue and starting to play with my new goodies.  We are slowly working our way through the new catalogue and it’s lovely to see all the fabulous creations on the CTC Facebook group.  If you would like to check them out, just click here and join up!  And don’t forget to add your creation as well.

This week, we are casing the Love and Sympathy section, pages 86-101 of the 2017-2018 Annual Catalogue.

I decided to case the grey card on page 101 which used the You’ve Got this stamp set, which I do love. I did want to use a different set and colours, cos I wanted to play with new goodies!!

This catalogue has some amazing new background stamps, and I’ve recently bought Sheet Music as I have a few musical friends and this will be perfect for cards for them.  So straight away, I had to turn the card from landscape to portrait as you can’t have music laying on it’s side!!  I did stamp it in black first but it was too harsh, so I used Sahara Sand instead for a softer look.

I used the Oh So Eclectic Stamp set and the matching Eclectic Layers thinlits.  I’m not sure if the thinlits are meant to cut out the more solid flower but I used it anyway!  I used Berry Burst, Powder Pink and Pear Pizzazz for the flowers and leaves.  I almost forgot to mention that I put Clear Stella on the cut out flower for a  bit more sparkle.

One of the products I often forget to use is Vellum!  But every time I use it, I wonder why I don’t use it more often.  I cut out a banner using the triple Banner punch and then stamped the sentiment from the Just Add Text stamp set.

Oh, oh, can you see the new mini sequins!!  They are soooo cute!!  #diedandgonetoheaven #sparklesaremyhappyplace

Now don’t forgot to come and join the group and share your project casing the Love and Sympathy section.

Next up is the lovely Judy.

New Catty Pennsationals Blog Hop

I’m so excited to doing a Blog Hop tonight with my amazing team, the Pennsationals and to be sharing the new 2017-2018 Annual Catalogue with you.

There are so many fabulous new products in this catalogue, I had trouble deciding what to share with you.  For my first card, I decided to go with the Just Add Text stamp set and the new Delightful Daisy DSP.

I used my favourite framelits, the Stitched Shape framelits and the matching Layering Oval framelits.  Oh and check out the new Daffodil Delight Double stitched ribbon.

For my second card, I went with Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set.  This set has an interesting combination of stamps.  I really like the flowers in this set.

Now I have to confess that Lemon Lime Twist is not my favourite In Color, however, I thought I would give it a go as a watercolor background.  I guess it’s ok!  lol!

I used Lemon Lime Twist, Melon Mambo and Flirty Flamingo and I was quite surprised at how nice they look together.

Next up on the hop is my lovely upline and friend, Tracy Penn.

If you happen to get lost on the hop, here is a list of all the participants.

Rebecca Scurr (that’s me!!)
