I wish it was Spring but this one helps!

I think it’s the coldest day of Winter that we’ve had so far!! And it’s windy so that doesn’t help either. But today’s card certainly has a touch of spring in it.

One of the talented ladies in my team, Rose (check out her blog here) shared a cute card that she had entered into the latest TGIF challenge and it inspired me to give it a go as well.

So here is the sketch challenge.

I was getting ready for next week’s stamp club and I had out the Circle of Spring stamp set when I saw the challenge picture and I thought I could use the wreath as the focus of the card.

I’ve also been wanting to use the new Brick Wall embossing folder and thought it might make a nice background. I used my blender pens to colour in the flowers using Watermelon Wonder and Mint Macaron ink. I think I am slightly addicted to these colours!

Here is a close up of the wreath.

To add the sentiment I stamped only a portion of the stamp from the Thoughts and Prayers stamp set as the whole saying didn’t fit into the space that I had. I then cut it out using the Bitty Banner framelits and cut off the points and attached it to the label framelit from the Project Life Cards and Labels framelits.

I’m sending this card off to one of the girls in my team who isn’t feeling well at the moment. I hope it cheers her up a little. Get well soon, my friend!!

CTC24 – Happy Easter!!

Isn’t the year just flying past? Who can believe that Easter is nearly upon us!!

At CTC this week, we are casing the Easter section of the Occasions catalogue which is found on pages 34 and 35 of the AU/NZ catalogue.

I decided to case the Petite Café gift bag on the top corner of page 34.

page 34

It’s cute, isn’t it? But I don’t have the For Peeps’ Sake stamp set. So I decided to make my tag using the Happy Easter Bunny stamp and just inking the bunny using the chocolate chip marker. I then coloured a few spots with blushing bride and pear pizzazz markers.

I also didn’t have the circle decorative mask so I carefully used my sponge dauber to make the dots. Remember, when you use white ink, to leave it to dry before you touch it. (Ask me how I know!!) I cut out 2 of the tag from the chalk talk framelits and cut one up and put the Sweet Dreams Designer Washi tape along the edge to make the tag stand out.

I used the Indescribable Gift stamp set for the Happy Easter sentiment.

CTC20 – It’s about my favourites!!

Fancy that, this week’s challenge is using my two favourite products!!! Blendies and Framelits!!!

Our challenge this week is to be inspired by a project from the Sale-a-bration catalogue and use Blendabilities and Framelit dies in your project.

So I’ve kinda done this one before (ooops!!) so I had to try and find something new to do. I used this card from page 18 of the AU/NZ SAB catalogue as my base inspiration.

I’ve used the idea of looking through a hole in a fence. Isn’t the From the Herd set cute!! Although I think I might need to practice my animal colouring a bit more!! #itsmeanttobeartistic #lol

CTC05 – It’s baby time!!!

So this week we are exploring the Baby section of the catalogue. There are so many cute things to choose from!! Almost makes me want to have a baby so I can make such cute things!!

So when I looked through this section, I found that I didn’t have many of the baby stamp sets. I really only need to have one set so that I can make cards for when my friends have babies. I had got the Something for Baby Stamp set and co-ordinating framelits during the pre-order period of the catty as I love it when things match!! Also, how cute is that onesie!!

So I thought I would case the baby shower decorations on page 72 of the AU/NZ catalogue.

page 72

But I didn’t want to copy it exactly, so I thought I would turn them into cards.

I have to say I love the duckie stamp and of course the framelit!! And I’m so glad the pram has a matching framelit cos I would not want to cut that sucker out!!

It’s time to CASE!!

This week’s challenge at CASEing The Catty is the Birthday section of the catalogue. Now you would think this was a easy one to do, but I actually had a bit of trouble choosing a project!!

I eventually decided on the card on page 52 of the AU/NZ catalogue.

ctc 03 original

I don’t have the stamp set that they used so I decided to go with Sketched Birthday. I also used my colour coach to come up with a new colour combo, Crushed Curry, Pool Party and Basic Gray.

I really love the look of the polaroid photo by placing a square onto a rectangle. I might have to use this idea more often!!

I got out my trusty markers to colour the stamps in. I just love this technique. Here’s a tip I discovered whilst doing a practice stamp before committing to the colours. Make sure your Stampin Scrub is clean!!!! When I cleaned my stamp, and recoloured, the Pool Party was definitely not the right colour. So I used my second scrub which had recently had a bath, and voila, much better!!! I gave my scrub a wash in the laundry tub and you should have seen the red ink come out!! Note to self, wash out scrubs more often!!!

I love that one stamp set can give me all the stamps I need to get a card done.

30 April 2014 – It’s my thing!!

I love making cards which have a bit of a twist. I especially love a good easel card!! I love the “wow” factor when you show someone and they realise that it’s not just a flat card but something a bit unusual.

At stamp club this month, I wanted to showcase one of the new stamp sets in the Occasional Catalogue, So Very Grateful. I think this is such a cute set and I love being able to colour the flowers.

I found a cute card on Pinterest, by Julie Davison and she has a great video on how to make this card. Check it out here.

I really like the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack. I think these are a great option for card making.

So here is my card.

I also did a second one using a different DSP.

23 September 2013 – It’s a Merry Christmas

As you might have noticed, I love all things related to the Big Shot!! It’s my favourite tool to use!! It is very rare for me to make a card without using it.

In the current Seasonal Catalogue, we have a new toy to play with. Expression Thinlit dies!! They include 3 words – Thankful, Love and Merry. They are a little challenging to use so you might need to play with the sandwich through the Big Shot. I added a double layer of waxed paper which made it easier to get the word out without tearing it.

I found this cute card on Pinterest, here.

I didn’t have any gold braid so I went with a silver version, using the new Silver Foil Sheets.
