I found the Mermaid

I just love playing with Bronwyn Eastley’s tutorials for 3d cards!  This week I am using the Magical Day Double Z Fold Card.  You can check out Bronwyn’s tutorial, here.

Addinktive Design team button - December 2017I love the Myths and Magic Specialty DSP.  Every page is sparkly!  It’s also slightly thicker card stock so it’s good for a 3d card as it’s nice and sturdy.

My niece is turning 18 shortly so I thought this would be a great card for her.  I went with the Mermaid page of the DSP and fussy cut them out.  I also did a few of the shells and seahorses.

I used the SAB Celebrate You thinlits for the sentiment and layered it with Melon Mambo and Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper.

I used the Petals and More thinlits to create the seaweed.  I also cut a couple of the flowers from the Eclectic Layers thinlits to create the look of coral.

If you would like to purchase the tutorial to create this card, make sure you check out Bronwyn’s store here.

Don’t forget you can earn the Celebrate You thinlits for free when you place an order on my online store.

Where’s the Mermaid?

Well it’s been a little while but I’m back creating with the AddInktive Design Team!   Bronwyn has been busy creating lots of fabulous tutorial’s and we shall be seeing many more this year as she has retired from her “real” job and will be focusing on her SU business.  (I wish I could too!!, Jealous much!!)

So I wanted to have a play with the new Mermaid Shaker Box card that Bronwyn has created.  Check it out here.

I don’t have the Myths and Magic suite so I went through my 2018 Occasions catalogue to see what I could use instead.  I decided to use the Flying Home stamp set which I received for free at Centerstage (a leadership event) at Onstage in November.

I recently purchased the Naturally Eclectic card overlays which are in the 2017-2018 Annual catalogue.  I had not noticed these until now and they are lovely!!  They are 4″ x 6″ acetate overlays in white and gold.

I used the new Gold Glitter flakes as part of my shaker card.  Now make sure that you seal it up firmly otherwise those flakes can go everywhere!!  (Just ask me how I know!!)

I stamped the images from the Flying Home stamp set onto the Thick Whisper White card stock so that it was a bit firmer when I fussy cut it out.  I coloured it in with the watercolour pencils and blender pen.

Oh and I used the Naturally Eclectic DSP as well.

The sentiment comes from the Bird Banter stamp set and I used the Classic Label punch (but re-punched the ends so that I had a banner end).

If you would like to make this gorgeous box card, you can purchase the tutorial from Bronwyn, here.

I’d love to hear what you think of this card.  Oh and in case you were worried how this fits into an envelope, it does fold flat and fits into a standard size envie.

Falling Flowers Bridge Fold Card

It’s been a lovely week of holidays following the excitement of Onstage.  I’ve put up my Christmas Trees (no, it’s not too early!!), done some Christmas shopping and spent time in the craft room.

I have my regular card making class on Saturday and the ladies are always up for a challenge (hehe, well I like to think so!), so I decided to check out Bronwyn’s tutorials over at Addinktive Designs.

I decided to have a try of the Window Box Bridge Fold card, which you can check out here.

I have used the Falling Flowers stamp set with the co-ordinating May Flowers framelits.  I also used the Petal Garden DSP stack and took the colours of the stamping and card stock from that.  I have used Old Olive, Pool Party, Rich Razzleberry and Sweet Sugar plum.

When cutting out the flowers, I felt that they needed a bit more colour so I used my blender pens and coloured in the flowers.

For my sentiments, I used the Birthday Banners stamp set and the Window Shopping stamp set, so that the ladies have a couple of different options.

In the centre of the flowers, I have used a glitter enamel dot for a bit of sparkle. I’ve also added Wink of Stella to the smallest flower.

I’d love to hear what you think about my version of the Window Box Bridge card, so please leave me a comment.

Merry Patterns and Chocolate Holders

Did I get your attention with the word Chocolate?  I hope so!!

I have another tutorial from Brownyn Eastley to share with you today, the Christmas Chocolate holder.  Check it out here.

I’ve used the Merry Patterns stamp set and the cute deer that is a part of it.  Did you know that you can earn this stamp set for free this month when you have a workshop and have over $450 in sales.

This tutorial is easy to follow. As always, Bronwyn’s instructions are clear and easy.  These instructions allow you to create two holders at once.

I used the Be Merry DSP from the Annual Catalogue as I like the red, green and white colour combo.  And that way, I could also use the Quilted Christmas ribbon.

I did have to do a bit of fussy cutting on the deer but I think it makes it pop.  I did add an eye to the deer with just a black dot using a marker.  I also put Wink of Stella over the deer but it doesn’t show in the photo.

I love the look of the scallop circle on the inside. You can add in a chocolate but I didn’t have any at home that would fit into the slot.

These holders would make great teacher gifts, class gifts or a little extra gift on the table on Christmas day.

Kitty Slider card

I’m back with another tutorial from Bronwyn Eastley, addINKtive Designs.

This week, I decided to use the This Little Piggy Slider card tutorial, which you can purchase here.

This is such a cute card but I don’t have the Piggy stamp set.  I know it’s cute, but I don’t really need it!  So I had a browse through my stamp sets and I went with the Pretty Kitty stamp set to keep in with the animal theme.  I love all the kitties in this set but I just kept it to two.

To create the grass, I stamped my piece of cardstock in Pear Pizzazz using the Watercolor Wash stamp set to create some texture.  I also punched the ticket tear border punch across the top.  I wanted to put some texture across the back piece so I cut out the laurel from the Lovely Laurel thinlits.  I just trimmed them down to fit the card.

Then the fun part of stamping the kitties and colouring them in.  I coloured the bodies and the pot with my aqua painter but I did the flowers and cheeks with markers just to make the colours stand out a bit more.   Then the extra fun part of fussy cutting was next!!  You know how much I love doing that!!! Yeah, no.

I used the Birthday banner stamp set and the matching Bunch of banner framelits for the sentiment and I added some more flowers from the Lovely Friends stamp set and the matching Lovely Laurel thinlits.

Of course, then the sky needed some clouds, and I knew I had a set with some.  I found the Lift Me Up stamp set had the perfect clouds so a quick stamp in Soft Sky and it’s all done.

The kitties do move across the card although the flower in the middle (which is to hide the join in the flowers) stops them going the whole way across.

This was a fun card to make and Bronwyn’s instructions make it so easy!!  Thanks, Bron!

Stampin’ Up! Product List

Up, Up and away!!

I’m so excited to share that I have been chosen to be a part of The AddINKtive Designs team!!   My clever friend, Bronwyn Eastley, creates the most amazing card tutorials (check out her tutorial shop here).  Each month, I’ll be showcasing my projects using her tutorials.

For my first card, I decided to use the One Wild Ride, Z-Fold, Slider card tutorial (Try saying that fast!!).  You can check it out Bronwyn’s card, here.

I don’t have the One Wild Ride stamp set so I had a look through my stamps to see what might work.  I found the Lift Me Up stamp set and the matching Up and Away thinlits and thought that the large thinlit balloon would work perfectly on the slider.

I was so brave and decided to cut that stunning piece of dsp from the Birthday Memories DSP, you know, the one with the animals walking over the hill.  I thought it would look like the hot air balloons were floating in amongst the drifting balloons in the sky!

Using old olive cardstock, I created the slider piece and added in some hills.  I sponged it to get some texture but it still need a little bit of something else.  Just as I went to grab my camera to take the photos, I noticed the Sheltering Tree stamp set and it has a grass stamp!!  Just what it needed.

To cut out the large balloon thinlit, I stuck together the piece of dsp and a piece of thick whisper white cardstock using the returned Multipurpose adhesive sheets.  I wanted to give the balloon a bit of stability so that it would fall over.  I then put a little piece of white cardstock behind the basket so that you can’t see the dimensional behind it.

I then coloured the balloon stamps with markers and cut them out using the thinlits.  I just love not having to fussy cut!  I deliberated for a while about what sentiment to use but ended up going with one from the Birthday banners set.

I have discovered that these cards are hard to photograph!  So here we go!!

I’ll be sharing a tutorial from Bronwyn each week so make sure you follow my blog!

Let me know what you think about this project!
