14 October 2011 – Pussy Cats and Boxes

I thought it was high time I shared a photo with you of my new babies!!  At the start of September, my husband and I adopted two kittens from Little Paws Kitten Rescue.  Shadow and Jaster are about 8 months old and getting bigger every day.  They love helping in my craft room as well as playing in the paper and boxes that my orders come in.  They have also overtaken my craft chair, so now I sit on the uncomfortable office chair and they have the one with a pillow.  If I’m not watching, I lose the office chair as well!!!

Shadow (left) and Jaster - Brotherly love

At the Stampin’ Up! convention earlier this year, Shelli Gardner, the co-founder, demonstrated a really cute box using the cardboard circle from a box of glue dots.  Well, there are 300 glue dots in a box, and it’s taken me until now to use them up!!

How cute is that!!

Now to find someone with an upcoming special birthday to give it too!!  And put something special in it!!

9 October 2011 – Creative Elements

Thanks to all the girls for a fun stamp club yesterday!!!  It’s Lynn’s birthday this week, so I found a great card by my team member, Jess Williams, to make for her.  I’ve been doing a few Christmas cards, so it was nice to make something different.  I got this stamp set, Creative Elements, at convention this year and I was excited to make this card using so many of the stamps.

I cut out the flower twice and shimmered it so that there is a bit of sparkle on it.  You always need a bit of bling!!

10 June 2011 – Butterfly Birthday

I have a friend who is having a 21st birthday party this weekend (I’m excited that I still have such young friends!!) and I needed to make a card and a box for the present.  I’ve still got the box to go, but I’m working tonight and need to have a sleep this afternoon, so I’ll be madly making one tomorrow!!  Nothing like leaving it to the last minute!!

I am definately loving the Elements of Style stamp set.  I have cased this card from Tania Gould, and haven’t changed it much.  It’s amazing how you can make a mistake work for you!!  As I was putting the tape on the back of the very vanilla piece, when I turned it over, I had a black spot right in the middle of the top which wasn’t going to be hidden by the butterfly!!!  So out comes the spritzer tool and the black marker and away we go!!  You can get really carried away with spritzing if you’re not careful!!

I also love bling so after colouring the butterfly, I drowned it in Champagne mist shimmer paint which has been mixed with Isocol.  So much glitter, just beautiful!!  Because the paper was a wee bit damp, I dried it with my heat tool and then scrunched it a bit.  And then added such a bit more shimmer paint, this time with a sponge dauber.  You really can’t have too much glitter!!  Honestly!!!

I have also rediscovered shrinky dink plastic.  I couldn’t find a birthday greeting small enough for my punches so I used the large oval punch to punch out the greeting, which I had stamped with Staz-on ink and then heated it with my heat tool.  It’s fun watching it melt and hoping it will end up flat!!  I added a touch of lace as well.  I hope you like it!!

Can you see the glitter!!

23 May 2011

I thought I’d have a play with one of my favourite stamp sets, Just Believe.  I had a look around Splitcoaststampers and found this lovely card which I cased.  I was really trying to not use my Big Shot (cos I was too lazy to get it out!!) but it really needed the butterflies.  I tend to use my Big Shot on every card so maybe I’ll try not to use it on the next one.  (I did say try!!)

Ink:  Blushing Bride, Versamark

Accessories:  Big Shot, Beautiful wings embosslit, Scallop trim corner punch, scallop trim punch, Modern label punch, pearls, Champagne Mist shimmer paint

3 April 2011

I had a few days off last week, so I’ve been planning a few workshops and projects for stamp club.  Of course, for the sake of research, you’ve got to play around, so thanks to Paper Crafter’s Library“>Paper Crafter’s Library, I’ve been trying out a Three Fold Card.  Not has hard as it looks but I did have some trouble tying the bow!!

And here’s the inside.

Stamp Set:  Well Scripted, Artistic Etchings

Paper:  Baja Breeze, Very Vanilla, Elegant Soiree DSP

Ink:  Baja Breeze

Accessories:  Big Shot, Beautiful Wings Embosslit, Fancy Flower Punch, basic rhinestones, Champagne Mist shimmer paint, Very Vanilla grosgrain ribbon

I liked it so much that I tried a different one.  Because I had some much trouble tying the bow, I thought I would try using brads to hold the front closed.  I’m happy with the result!!

8th March 2011

I’m at Stanthorpe today baby sitting my nieces for a few days, so I’ve pre-scheduled this post.

I’ve cased this one from fellow SU! demonstrator, Annette Sullivan.

I love the Manhattan Flowers embossing folder but I don’t use it often enough.  When I saw this card of Annette’s, I loved it!!

There is a very talented SU! Demonstrator who does amazing things with punches!!  She has done a rose using the Owl punch.  Check out her video here to see how to make it.  I did end up with glue all over my fingers but the results are beautiful!!  I did spritz my rose with champagne mist shimmer paint but you can’t really tell in the photo.
