CTC123 – Easter

It’s been an exciting weekend for Stampin’ Up! demonstrators around the world.  We have just had Onstage 2017 which is a fun time for demonstrators to get together, all at the same time throughout the world, and we have just seen the next Annual Catalogue!  Yes, I have a copy in my hot little hands!!  But I’m not sharing it with you just yet.  You’ll have to wait until 1 June.

I also got to catch up with some of the CTC Crew in Sydney which was great!  Nothing like meeting up in person.  Here’s Liz Gross and I.  Bronwyn Eastley and I were shopping and ran into Liz!!

So back with the program!!  We are casing Easter projects this week.

I was flipping through the Annual Catalogue (gee, I should do that more often) and I came across this cute acorn thank card on page 36.

I decided to case the card at the top.  I used the same Sparkle embossing folder with a whisper white cardstock base.  Instead of using burlap ribbon, I decided to use a piece of Wild Wasabi cardstock and cut it with the fringe scissors to make some grass.  I just love the Basket Bunch stamp set and the matching Basket Builder framelits.  The bunnies are just so cute!!

I stamped the bunny, eggs, birds and flowers in memento ink and cut them out with the framelits.  I coloured them using the blender pens and So Saffron, Blushing Bride, Marina Mist, Pool Party and Calyspo Coral ink.

To create the sentiment, I used a combination of stamp sets.  Happy is from Endless Birthday Wishes and Easter is from Crazy about You stamp set.

I’m hoping my nieces’ like the card as their Easter present will be inside!!  Not chocolate but tickets to a concert!!  Best.Auntie.Ever

Enjoy our hop this weekend!!  And Happy Easter!!

Next up is the gorgeous Kelly Kent!!

CTC110 – Party Animal

ctc_header

Welcome back to another year of Caseing the Catty!!  I hope you had a Merry Christmas and a fabulous New Year.  I’m coming to the end of holidays and back at work tomorrow.  I’ve had a lovely time pottering around at home and tidying up my craft room and doing some crafting.

The 2017 Occasions Catalogue and Sale-a-bration catalogue started this week and wow, Stampin’ Up! have created two fabulous catalogues!

We are excited to case the Occasions Catalogue this week and the Party Animal section on pages 4-7.

ctc110

I decided to case the card at the top of page 6 using the Big on Birthdays stamp set.  I just love this set!

ctc110-b

I also love the Falling in Love DSP so I decided to combine the two.  To create the scallop edge, I used the Layering Squares framelits and cut out strips and joined them together.  I stamped the sentiment and flowers in Soft Suede and coloured in with Blushing Bridge and Old Olive using the blender pens.  Of course, you need a bit of bling, so I layered the new Very Vanilla satin ribbon and blushing bride sequins.

ctc110-a

I hope you have enjoyed my card!  Next on our hop is my lovely friend, Simone Bartrum.

CTC84 – Love and Sympathy

ctc_header

This week, we are caseing the Love & Sympathy section of the 2016-2017 Annual Catalogue.  There are so many lovely projects and gorgeous new stamp sets in this section.

ctc84---c

I have decided to case the popcorn box on page 51.  This box really makes me want to buy the popcorn box thinlits, although I haven’t yet.

ctc84-a

So the only box die I had was the baker’s box die.  I used the Flourishing Phrases stamp set and coloured it with blender pens on the flowers and leaves and an aqua painter for the background.  It was quick and easy to create!!  I think the longest part was working out the folds at the bottom of the box!!  Oh, and I did put a Wink of Stella on it too, of course!

ctc84-b

I used one of the dies in the set to make the tag, which I stamped with the sentiment from the You’ve Got This stamp set. And, a box isn’t complete without some sequins to finish it off.

I hope you like my box.  I’d love you to leave a comment below.

Next on the hop is the talented Judy May.

CTC81 – Birthdays

ctc_header

This week sees the start of the 2016-2017 Annual Catalogue!! How exciting!!  And we are already starting on our journey through the new catalogue here at CTC and are starting with the Birthday section between pages 10-25.
ctc81
As I flicked through this section trying to decide which card to case, I had trouble choosing as there are so many great projects.  I haven’t received my new catalogue order yet (but it’s on it’s way!!) so I went with a set that carried over.  Although apparently this set is still new to me as I haven’t actually inked it up yet!

I was inspired by the cake card on page 22 of the catalogue.

CTC81-a

I don’t have many male cards in my stash so I decided to change the colours to Emerald Envy and Dapper Denim.  I also used Peekaboo Peach for my third cake.  To add the ribbon, I cut a small slit down the seam of the card and tucked the ribbon through it.  I then used a bit of tape on the inside of the card to hold it down.

The Endless Birthday wishes stamp set has so many great sentiments to choose from and I love how you can mix and match them.

ctc81-b

Next on the Hop is the lovely Judy, so make sure you check out her gorgeous project.

Comforting Friends

I don’t know about you but I like to have a variety of cards on hand in my stash to cover most occasions. I found recently that I didn’t have any suitable sympathy cards and decided to make a couple for stamp club recently.

I really like the Corner Garden stamp set so I decided to colour this set with my blender pens and again with the markers for a different look. I also used the Thoughts & Prayers stamp set for the sentiments.

This is the first time that I’ve used the new Thick Whisper White cardstock and it’s lovely!! We also cracked out the new Archival basic black ink pad, which will be available from 1 September, and it does a nice crisp image.

I let the ladies at stamp club choose what they wanted to use, markers or blender pens and ink pads, and creativity reigned!! We also choose the coloured backing on the day to suit the colours that they used.

So here is my card using blender pens and the subtles ink pads.

garden 2

At stamp club, I went with blender pens and the brights ink pads.

garden 3

For my last sample, I went with the Regals markers.

garden 1

In order to get the sentiments straight, I used the stamp-a-ma-jig to help line it all up. Seeing as there is so much work in colouring, you don’t want to mess it up on the last step!!

Sweet Sunday on a Thursday

I have recently discovered a new challenge site, called Sweet Sunday Sketches. Every Sunday, they have a new sketch to try.

I was having a look for a new sketch yesterday and thought the latest sketch would do nicely. What do you think?

SSSC281

Cute, isn’t it? I thought I would try the Circle of Spring wreath as the circle on the card. I love this set!! It’s so lovely and easy to colour in.

I was once again inspired by the Pretty Petals DSP stack and went with Old Olive and Calypso Coral. I used my blender pens to colour it. I just got some new pens as mine were a little fluffy on the tip. Oh my, what a difference it makes!!

sss281

And have I mentioned that I love the Wonderful Wreath framelits and how they make cutting out an image like this so easy!!

I’d love to know what you think! Please leave me a comment below.

I wish it was Spring but this one helps!

I think it’s the coldest day of Winter that we’ve had so far!! And it’s windy so that doesn’t help either. But today’s card certainly has a touch of spring in it.

One of the talented ladies in my team, Rose (check out her blog here) shared a cute card that she had entered into the latest TGIF challenge and it inspired me to give it a go as well.

So here is the sketch challenge.

tgifc11

I was getting ready for next week’s stamp club and I had out the Circle of Spring stamp set when I saw the challenge picture and I thought I could use the wreath as the focus of the card.

I’ve also been wanting to use the new Brick Wall embossing folder and thought it might make a nice background. I used my blender pens to colour in the flowers using Watermelon Wonder and Mint Macaron ink. I think I am slightly addicted to these colours!

tgif11

Here is a close up of the wreath.

tgif11b

To add the sentiment I stamped only a portion of the stamp from the Thoughts and Prayers stamp set as the whole saying didn’t fit into the space that I had. I then cut it out using the Bitty Banner framelits and cut off the points and attached it to the label framelit from the Project Life Cards and Labels framelits.

I’m sending this card off to one of the girls in my team who isn’t feeling well at the moment. I hope it cheers her up a little. Get well soon, my friend!!
