It’s time for a change

From Christmas cards, that is!!!!

I have been making lots of Christmassy things for ages and I am slightly over it!! I have a dear friend having a birthday this week, so I wanted to make a special card for her. I have to say I really enjoyed making something else!!

I wanted to use the Corner Garden stamp set and my blendabilities. Honestly, it’s been ages since I used them!!

So a quick search on Pinterest found this lovely card by It’s a Stamp Thing. I love the way she uses only a portion of the stamp.

As my friend loves anything purple, I had to use Blackberry Bliss. This is such a gorgeous deep purple. The photos definitely don’t do it justice. I embossed the crumb cake cardstock with white embossing powder. This looked lovely all on it’s own. I will have to try it with coloured cardstock as well. I then coloured it with Old Olive for the leaves, and then Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Rich Razzleberry and Night of Navy.

l bday

I hope she likes it!!

Happy Stamping

CTC13 – Back to where it all began!!

Well, it’s finally back to where the addiction first started!! Making cards!!! For the last few weeks, I’ve been making boxes and tags (which has been fun) but now it’s time to get back into cards.

I have to say that I am in denial that we are nearing the end of October and getting closer to Christmas!! But I am making progress on my Christmas cards.

This week at Caseing the Catty Challenges, we are casing Cards from the Holiday Catalogue. I have decided to case a tag and turn it into a card. I’ve recently purchased the Mingle All the Way stamp set and haven’t had a chance to use it yet. So when I saw the tag on page 17 of the AU/NZ catalogue, I knew that was the project for me this week.

So here is the tag from the catty.

And here is my version.

I used some Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details to highlight the berries and add a touch of bling. I love using the Trim the Tree DSP stack as it has lots of different patterns you can use. So versatile!! And of course, I had to use my Blendies!! Love em!!

So make sure you join in with the Challenge at http://www.caseingthecatty.blogspot.com.au

You can directly CASE (Copy and Share Everything) or use a sketch/layout, colour combo, embellishment, just to name a few examples, as a springboard for your own creations. It doesn’t even have to be about scrapbooking, journaling or Project Life. For example, you can use a sketch idea for a card or 3D item.

Swapping with my Team

One of the great parts of being part of a team of demonstrators is the opportunity to do swaps. We try to do them monthly but sometimes life gets in the way and we do them less frequently. But in celebration of the Holiday Catalogue coming out, we recently did a holiday catty swap.

I love getting happy mail (so much better than bills!!) so I always enjoy being a part of swaps. It’s also interesting to see what others are making and sharing ideas.

So I wanted to use the White Christmas stamp set as it is very cute. I was inspired by Yvonne Jackson, here. I think the little bear is my favourite stamp in this set!! And did you notice the snowflakes!! LOVE!!! And of course, a swap wouldn’t be complete without using Blendies!!!

I always forget that whilst I love receiving swaps, making lots of the same card is not quite as fun!

I hope the girls liked my swap!!

What a pretty bauble

I don’t know about you but I love a pretty, colourful, sparkly bauble on my Christmas tree.  And if I could somehow make this stamped bauble into a real one, it would be on my tree in a flash!!  I’m speaking of the Christmas Bauble stamp from the Holiday catalogue, of course!!

I knew as soon as I saw this stamp that I needed to have it!!  It’s also great for colouring with Blendabilties (fancy that!!)

I found this great sketch at Mojo Monday and thought it would suit.

I used the Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack as my inspiration for the colours.  I used Whisper White as the base cardstock and Garden Green as the next layer.  I used a piece of Gold Satin ribbon as a touch of luxury.  Then I got stuck into colouring with my blendies!!  Love, love!!!

To create the sentiment, I stamped the image from the Good Greetings stamp set and used the Modern label punch to punch it out.  To mat it, I used the Decorative label punch and cut it in half.

If you like the greeting stamp, you can earn this set for free by hosting a qualifying workshop up to 31 October.  Contact me at stampinwithrebecca@yahoo.com.au to arrange a date.

Happy Stamping!!

Card Giving

I just love this quote on one of the stamps in the Lovely Romance set!! I have met lots of amazingly talented women in my Stampin’ Up! journey and I think this card might be off to one of them!!

I have based my project for this week’s Caseing the Catty challenge on the card on page 115.

page 115

I love the Friends Who Know stamp set but I don’t have it yet so I thought I would use the Lovely Romance set which is on the same page.

If you follow my blog, you would know that I like Blendabilities (well, just a little bit, lol!!). I thought I would try using them over the white embossing powder. Well, it works a treat!! I also tried it using the markers and do a comparison for you, but it didn’t turn out at all. There is barely any colour showing on the white embossing powder. But the blendabilities did a great job as you can see.

In order to get the frame around the stamped image, I cut out 2 of the shape from the Chalk Talk framelits and cut one in half vertically and the other horizontally. I then mounted them on the back of the stamped image to give it a lovely frame.

And I got to use my new What’s Up punch as well!!!

Caseing my amazing friend!!

As you know, I sort of like Blendabilities!! Ok, I lurrvee them!!

I also love the Perfect Peacock stamp in the latest catalogue. It’s great for using blendies but you don’t really need to blend much on it as it’s small in parts.

My wonderful, talented friend, Emma Palonek who is a member of my team (she is my stamping niece!!), created a gorgeous card which I decided to case for my latest Stamp Club. Em doesn’t have a blog yet but you can check out her work on her Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/vintagegraffiti.

I love the idea of using the Typeset Specialty DSP as the background. I didn’t realise until I used it that it is a lighter weight paper than usual DSP. And the hint of gold foil is a lovely touch of bling.

To do the ribbon, I cut a long piece of the crumb cake seam binding ribbon, wet it and then scrunched it up into a ball in my hand and then dried it with my heat gun. I then tied the ribbon and scrunched it again and dried it more. And of course, it’s not complete without sequins!!

Isn’t it gorgeous!! Just like Miss Em!!!

Can you smell the roses?

Well, not really, it’s too early for roses to be blooming but I’ve made some pretty ones today!!

As you may have noticed, I like using the new Blendabilities. Okay, so I LOVE using the new blendabilities!!! I got the rest of the colours when they became available (cos I NEED them all, you know!!) and I wanted to have a play with them.

My card today is loosely based on this one by Artistic Design by Rachel, which I found on Pinterest. I liked the way she had coloured the rose by not colouring right to the edge.

As I wanted to try a few colours, I made a set of cards using the Sweetbriar Rose stamp. Isn’t it pretty?

Here is the Melon Mambo blendies. It’s a very bright pink.

Next is Pumpkin Pie.

Then we have Night of Navy.

rose 4

And last but not least, Rich Razzleberry.

I’m really happy with how these turned out. I don’t consider myself to be very arty, so I love how these pens make it look like I am!!

And I’ll just pause to say that I love the new Venetian Crochet Trim!! Is it pretty or what!!

Please let me know what you think!!!
