12 Weeks of Christmas – Week 4

12 weeks w4

Do you realise that if we are up to week 4 in my Christmas Blog series that it is actually only 8 weeks until Christmas! Eeek!! Time to start Christmas shopping!!

This week, I am focusing on the Joyful Season stamp set. I loved this set when I first saw it in the catalogue and couldn’t wait to get it.

I’ve been inspired by a Mojo Monday sketch this week. Here is the sketch.

I used the striped vellum from the Winter Wonderland Designer Vellum Stack and rounded the corners with the Project Life corner rounder punch. I love rounded corners!!! I then stamped the Cherry Cobbler background piece with the dots from the stamp set which are used for the branch. I used the white glitter ribbon to add some bling.

I stamped the Joyful image onto Whisper White cardstock then cut it out with the Lots of Labels framelits and used the updated Essentials paper piercing kit to pierce around the edge. I cut the same size in silver foil and added to the end of the banner.

For my second card, I wanted to showcase the bird. I used my square framelits and cut out 2 sizes (yes, I know I could have just used my paper trimmer!!) I stamped the bird with the new Archival basic black and then stamped with Real Red for the body of the bird.

I used my favourite Christmas DSP, Home for Christmas, for this card. I added a piece of Very Vanilla satin ribbon which is so luxurious!! I felt it need some bling, so I added a Gold foil word from the Christmas Greetings framelits

12 weeks of Christmas – Week 3

12 weeks w3

I am really enjoying doing this blog series and featuring different stamp sets each week. I’ve been looking forward to show casing the Holly Jolly Greetings stamp set and finally, it’s this week!!

Somehow I managed to order the wood mount version of this set. Make sure you pay attention to how the blocks fit in as this is one of those sets that are a tight squeeze to get in!

I was inspired this week by a sketch at Sweet Sunday Sketches.

For my first card today, I went with a Pool Party and silver theme. I have fallen in love with the snowflake vellum from the Holidays Fancy Foil Designer Vellum pack. I cut out the word using the Christmas Greetings Thinlits dies and silver foil. Did you know that you can purchase the stamp set and thinlits as a bundle and save 15%. That’s a great saving.

I even used some washi tape on the card from the Everday Chic Designer Washi Tape. I have so much washi tape and always forget to use it!! And now I’ve used 10 cms!! LOL

I used the same sketch for my second card, but I turned it on it’s side. This time I went with a traditional colour scheme of Cherry Cobbler, Mossy Meadow and Kraft corrugated paper. I cut the Merry out of gold foil for a bit of bling. I then embossed the snowflake in gold and fussy cut it. I DO NOT LIKE fussy cutting!! I actually cut out 3 snowflakes but it was too much with 3 on the card. I trimmed one of the snowflakes so that it looks a bit smaller. I then added a Metal rimmed pearl to the centre of each one.

I had to do three cards this week so I could show you the three dies in the Christmas Greetings thinlits. For my final card, I was inspired to dig out my Circle Card thinlits. I haven’t used this for ages and I’ve forgotten how nice it looks!!

I used my favourite Christmas DSP, Home for Christmas, and once again, fussy cut out the Santa. You can’t have a Jolly card without a Jolly Santa!!

The other thing I forgot is how awkward these cards are to photograph!! I just love the word Jolly in the Gold glitter, it’s so sparkly!!

12 Weeks of Christmas – Week 2

12 weeks w2

Can you believe that a week has gone past already? And does that mean it’s only 11 weeks to Christmas! Oh dear, it might be time to get shopping soon.

This week, I am featuring the Berry Merry stamp set. As soon as I saw it, I loved it and it was on my wish list straight away. But I have to confess that today is the first time I’ve used it. But it won’t be the last!!

Berry merry

I wanted to use the Season’s Greetings stamp with the matching Boughs and Berries embossing folder. I think they look stunning together. I used the new thick Whisper White cardstock so there would be no tearing of the cardstock (that sometimes happens with the normal Whisper White when embossing). And then I inked up the sentiment in Real Red (such a Christmassy red). So it was looking pretty good, but needed a little something extra. Maybe a little bling.

So I used my versamark ink and inked around the edges of the card, all over the embossed area, then sprinkled over some heat and stick powder. There were a few places where you could see line from the ink pad so I just brushed the powder off those areas and then heated it up. I then added some dazzling diamonds (ok, I put the whole tub over it!!) and heated it up again to make it set. The photo doesn’t show just how sparkly it is!! This card is like the gift that keeps on giving, cos whenever you touch it, you get some sparkle on your fingers and then it’s every where!! Which glitter hating friend should I give this one too!! Hehe

For my second card, I wanted to feature the Joy stamp. I came across an old sketch at Pagemaps, and knew it would work for my card.

I embossed the word in Gold, and added a gold metallic doily behind. You can only just see it but I think it’s cute. I love the Winter Wonderland Specialty DSP but I’ve had trouble using it on my cards. I didn’t want a pattern that would overwhelm the stamp so I went with the gold and black pine cones which also has a matching vellum in the Winter Wonderland Designer Vellum stack. I love how it turned out.

Welcome to my 12 weeks of Christmas blog series

12 weeks pic

Welcome to my very first blog series featuring the 12 weeks of Christmas. Did you realise that it is only 12 and a bit weeks until Christmas!! EEEKKK!!! Where has the year gone! I don’t know about you but my year has flown past.

12 weeks w1

So for my first week, I’d like to share a couple of cards featuring the Reason for the Season stamp set and the matching Festive Flower Builder punch.

You may have noticed that I have a love affair with the Home for Christmas DSP. Well it is very lovely, you know!! It’s always hard to decide which side of the paper to use as both are so nice. For my first card, I chose the poinsettia paper and layer it with Mossy Meadow, Real Red and Daffodil Delight. I added a piece of the Very Vanilla Subtle Stripes Satin Ribbon and then created my sentiment piece using the Lots of labels framelits. I inked up the stamp using markers. I love this look!! I used 2 of the little crosses from the Festive Flower builder punch to make a little flower and added a rhinestone for a touch of bling. I’m very happy with how it turned out!!

12 weeks project 1-3

For my second project, I just had to create a poinsettia!! Some of the videos that I have watched showing how to put the flower together have suggested folding the petals in half to create dimension but I don’t like the look of the crease. So once I had punched out the petals (8 large, 4 small and 2 of the double petals) from the gold foil paper, I used my bone folder to curve the edges of the petals. A much more subtle look, I think!! I glued it together using multi-purpose glue and left it to dry. I carefully added the crosses on the top and included a pearl which had been coloured.

I decided to make a square card and added a layer of gold foil paper and a piece of the Winter Wonderland Vellum stack. You really can’t have too much gold, you know!! I added some sequins and used the note tag punch for the sentiment.

I hope you have enjoyed my cards this week. Check back again next Wednesday at 6pm for the next instalment!!
