So I don’t know about you but I have decorated my house for Christmas!! (I know many people like to wait until December 1 but that’s not me!!) I have two trees, cos one isn’t enough to hold all my special ornaments. I also have lots of decorations that I have made over the years using Stampin’ Up! goodies and from the other crafts that I love to do.
This week, we are stepping up a mini catalogue project. You may have noticed that the catalogues highlight projects that “Step it Up”. They feature cards that are beginner, intermediate and avid. So the challenge is to choose a project from the mini catalogue and switch it up a notch. Or switch it down if that suits you too!
I have decided to case the card in the middle on page 33.
I have to admit I had a bit of trouble trying to do a beginner card! I like to use all the things when making cards.
So I used a piece of the Brightly Gleaming Specialty DSP as the background. I stamped the Christmas Gleaming ornaments in the retired Delicata Copper ink of a piece of Pretty Peacock cardstock. And the sentiment is from the Curvy Christmas stamp set, on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.
So to step it up a little, I embossed the ornaments in retired copper embossing powder. I added a piece of retired copper trim and stretched it out. The sentiment is stamped in the copper ink and popped up with dimensionals.
For my avid card, I trimmed the background dsp (well actually I had a piece cut this size in scraps!!)
I embossed the Pretty Peacock piece using the Dainty Diamonds embossing folder and added the copper embossed ornaments which I had punched up using the Ornament punch.
I added a piece of copper trim, a strip of Night of Navy cardstock and I embossed the sentiment in copper embossing powder.
The photos don’t do them justice to show how shiny these cards are!
This was a fun challenge!! Next up is the lovely Tina.
We would love to see your creation so please share over on at our Facebook group.
