Welcome to Autumn!! Yes, even though we are still sweltering in Queensland, it’s now Autumn! Bring on the cooler weather.
This week we are casing any card from the January – June Mini Catalogue and giving it a masculine twist. There are so many gorgeous cards in this catalogue but so many of them are quite girly. I do tend to neglect making male cards, sorry boys!!
I started to flip through the catalogue to find a card to case and I managed to get to page 3 and the card which is highlighting the Forever Blossoms bundle.
I was really drawn to the hand painted strips so I started with that. I created by using an aqua painter and crumb cake ink. Of course, I had to use the Clubhouse stamp set. I haven’t used the golfer yet so he became my main feature. I also wanted to try the new Saddle Brown Stazon. I coloured him using the Watercolour pencils using Basic Grey and Rich Razzleberry. If you’ve ever seen a golfer dress himself, you will have noticed that they don’t have issues with mixed patterns and colours!!
The Golf club dies has a great die for grass which also embosses the grass for a nice texture. And there is also three golf balls with texture as well. I was tempted to put the ball on the ground but I didn’t!!
Here’s a close up of the golfer.
I also wanted to create a girl card with this layout as well. I used a piece of Peaceful Poppies DSP to create the strips and then got out the Happy Birthday to You stamp set and the co-ordinating Birthday dies (which are still available!!) I stamped the cake in memento black twice and cut out the whole cake. The dies also includes a die which cuts out the flowers on the cake separately so I cut them as well.
I coloured my cake using Smoky Slate blends. I only meant to colour the stand grey but I got carried away and coloured the whole cake. I then coloured the leaves in Old Olive blends and the flowers in Rich Razzleberry and Flirty Flamingo. I then layered the flowers for a bit of “pop” and added some clear faceted gems. The sentiment and banner comes from the Clubhouse stamp set and Golf club dies. Now wait for it, I’ve also done the inside of the card!!
Next up is the lovely Siobhan. I can’t wait to see what she creates, I know it will be fab!!
We would love to see your creation so please join us over on at our Facebook group.
