CTC61 – Welcome Back to CTC in 2016

It seems like only yesterday we were finishing off 2015 and yet here we are almost halfway through January!! Welcome back to another year of CASE-ing the Catty!!

We have a couple of new team members and a new look to the blog!! And of course, two new catalogues to start casing this year!! We are also introducing a monthly challenge where you can join in and share your projects. If you are inspired by our projects, you can share your link with us and the Crew will choose a winner at the end of the month. Just add your link at the bottom of this post.

Our first challenge this year is to showcase your favourite project from the new 2016 Occasions catalogue. There are so many lovely projects that it’s hard to pick just one, but I did manage it!

I love the new Large Numbers framelits and the matching stamp set, Number of Years. The font, the size….. words can’t describe how great they are!! And not only the numbers but the other stamps and framelits are great too, especially the banner and the flowers. This week, I have cased the card on page 10 on the right.

It’s my 15th wedding anniversary in February, so I thought I would get a head start on my card. My background was inspired by the Birthday Bouquet DSP which is soooo pretty. It’s one that I’m really struggling to cut into!! So that I didn’t have to cut it, I made my own using my aqua painter and mint macaroon ink. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. I then stamped the greenery of the flowers twice and added the smaller coloured flowers. Doesn’t it look pretty!! I stamped the numbers out in Blushing Bride and used the framelits to cut them out. So easy!! You can’t really tell in the photos but I’ve added Wink of Stella in clear on the numbers for added bling. I don’t know how I have managed without Stella all this time!

I then added pieces of the 2 new ribbons onto the card. The Watermelon Wonder 1″ Stitched satin ribbon is just lovely and the Pool Party Glitter Ribbon is so sparkly! I can see that I’m going to use lots of these!!

I also had to make a card for a family friend who is turning 75. This time, I did cut the Birthday Bouquet DSP!! I do love the colours that have been used in this paper, I think I will be using it frequently! For this card, I did use the Remembering Your Birthday stamp set so that I had a sentiment small enough to fit into the banner.

I hope you have enjoyed my cards today!! Don’t forget to enter our challenge and add your link here.  And also make sure you use the hashtag #CTC61 to share your projects on Instagram and Facebook.

  1. Thanks for sharing two awesome CASEs Rebecca! Special cards for special events! I’m going to have to have a go at making my own striped DSP – yours looks great! Those numbers are going to get so much use. Happy Anniversary for next month too!

  2. Two stunning cards created by my stunning friend. Well done. I love them both although I do love that you created your own background paper using the Aqua Painters. Nothing like a bit of water colouring to soothe the soul ❤️

  3. Awesome cards, and happy Anniversary in Feb!! I love your watercolouring background rather than cutting the delicious paper (I’d do that too!!). THank you for the wonderful inspiration and ideas!!

  4. Ha! Bec, live life … Use up that DSP! You can always buy more. Love both of your CASED cards and the creative way of imitating DSP for your first. Happy 15th WA in advance. I’m guessing that’s why you’re off to NY.

  5. Two fabulous projects, Rebecca! Love your custom background stripes & the pretty palette you chose for the anniversary design. Well done on summoning up the courage to cut into that awesome DSP, I am sure the recipient will enjoy your gorgeous card! Happy Anniversary! 🙂

  6. What wonderful anniversary and birthday cards! I’m so excited about this die and stamp set. Just recently ordered it and after seeing your beautiful case, I can’t wait to play with it. Thanks for inspiring!

  7. This stamp set is going to be SO popular I think. You’ve shared two very beautiful examples of cards using the numbers, I’m thrilled you’ve found another stamp set for us that fits the banner!

  8. Oh Bec, I feel your pain with the cutting up of this DSP. I haven’t been able to do it so I admire your efforts! I was admiring your water colour stripes & at first, I thought it was actually DSP. I really, really love this bundle in the catty & your cards are a lovely work of art.
