This week at Case-ing the Catty, we are tackling the Artistic Expression section of the catalogue. This is a huge section with so many amazing cards to choose from. I might have to do a few more for next week as well!!
Seeing as it was so large, I decided to do two cards. (I also couldn’t decide!!) For my first card, I chose the Hope card on page 117 as I love the Striped Scallop thinlits but I don’t use them often enough and I haven’t used my Watercolor Words set yet either.
Here is my version. I went with Soft Sky as the base, Cherry Cobbler for the sentiment and Garden Green and Lost Lagoon for the flowers and petals.
I lightly stuck down the scallops with random glue dots. I also added some sequins instead of rhinestones as I have recently discovered the Metallics Sequin Assortment in the catalogue. There are white, black, silver, gold and clear sequins in 3 shapes!!
For my second card, I decided to case the card on page 133. I like the look of the stitching but there’s no way I’m getting out my machine just for that!!
So I got my trusty real red marker and drew some lines around the word once I had stuck them on. Lucky we are not aiming for perfection!! lol. I should mention that the Layered Letters Alphabet is so easy to use!! The letters stamp really nicely.
I also used the Alphabet rotary stamp to do the sentiment. Lesson to be learned. When creating a word with the rotary stamp, do not take a short cut and start part way along the stamp. You won’t have enough space!! Ask me how I know!!!
I hope you like my cards this week. To continue on the hop, you can visit Rebecca B here.
Happy Stamping
Stampin’ Up! Product List:
Great couple of cards Bec! I have to say the second one is my favourite. So fun and vibrant with those bright colours against the black and white. Love it!
I agree it was so hard to pick one card to CASE. Love both but the first is my fav. Beautiful colour combo and isn’t it a great way to use the striped scallops thinlits? Great projects Bec.
I love both your cards, but my absolute favourite is the alphabet one – love the vibrant colours and the bold statement. 🙂
Love the Soft Sky combined with the Cherry Cobbler on your first card Bec. I would never have thought of this colour combination and it totally rocks on your card!!! Also, I love the squiggly line on your second card. An interesting element to add to a card when you just need ‘something else’ to make your card ‘pop’ and don’t know what else to put on… Drawing it rather than sewing is also great for the time poor which is most of us now days. Who wants to drag the sewing machine out for just one card?! Awesometastic as always xo
TWO projects & both so lovely. The texture & layering on the 1st card is elegant & pretty. Soft Sky is my fave blue 🙂 The second card is fun & fresh, & yes it did make me smile!
Your cards are gorgeous, but I really really LOVE the soft sky card – it looks amazing!! THe framelits give a gorgeous effect don’t they!!
